I'm also smoking weed with this combo. This seems like it would be a very powerful and relaxing mixture of herbs. Opium contains morphine and codeine which are mew opioid agonists. Mandrake contains atropaine and scopalomine which are acetylcholine antagonists and would potenate the opium. Blue Lotus contains nuciferine and aporphine which are dopamine antagonists and may stop the delierent effects of Mandrake and would potenate the opium. Valarian Root contains valaric acid which is a GABA agonist and would also potenate the opium and cause relaxation.

This is possibly a very dangerous mixture. What would be (semi) safe proportions to use? I don't want to have any delirent effects from the mandrake.

And I also believe that morphine also affects the kappa-opiod receptor, which causes some people slight hallucinations and a dream-like state.

This doesn't seem like that dangerous of a combo, as long as you don't over-do any of them.

Unless mandrake tastes good I'd recommend just popping you antihistamine of choice so you can control the dose better.

And of course I'm gonna smoke weed with it like everything I take basically.

I never tried any tropaine alkaloids in my life besides cocaine (edit) so this might just be a one time thing. I was wondering if mandrake is trippy a little at low doses maybe with weed. I know diphenhydramine is also a acetylcholine antagonist but drugs can effect the receptors the same and have different psychoactive effects like LSD and 5-MeO-MiPT, there both serotnin agonists, but have very different psychoactive effects. Not too many people have tried deliernts at all not even at low doses, maybe they have a bad rep because of their effects at higher doses. I'm into pharmacology and neuroscience so sometimes I just want to see how a drug feels.

I don't have any experience with dopamine antagonists either and blue lotus' has a lower side effect profile, I heard they have nasty side effects because they usually effect more receptors than blue lotus. I know if the level of dopamine goes down the amount of acetylcholine levels go up already and I know it may change the out come of the experience

Seriously bro, stay away from mandrake. It will make you crazy. Read any of the Erowid experience vaults regarding datura, brugmansia, belladona, nightshade, or mandrake. All of them contain atropine and scoplamine. The theme I get from those experiences' is that one way or another you will be tripping for days, and you'll probably end up coming to naked in either the hospital, jail, or somewhere in the middle of nowhere. The only person I ever knew who decided to fuck with any scoplamine drug ended up waking up naked, covered in bruises and cuts, in an empty pool in an abandoned building in the middle of the Kill Zone in E. Oakland... so yea... don't fuck around with the mandrake. It might be okay, but it seems super unnecessary considering how bad things can get if you take a tiny bit too much.

Yea I know that morphine also effects the kappa. I just listed all of the drugs' major mechanism of action.

I'm mixing it with blue lotus which acts as a dopamine antagonist. Antagonists lower the amount of receptors the endogenous neurotransmitter and non endo. neurotransmitters effects. When the amount of dopamine effecting the d1 and d2 receptors lowers the amount of acetylcholine increases, this would lessen the effect of the mandrake.

I'm aiming for just a little over the threshold effect. I'm trying it because I know its gonna potienate the opium.

Weed seems to potienate everything in a good way and takes away negative side effects. Higher levels of cannabinoids balance the brains neurotransmitters bringing the brain back closer to homiostasis which lowers the neurotoxic effects of some drugs and causes slight psychedelic effects that endo(natural) cannabinoids don't.

True, buy from my experiences dabbling in entheogentics, I found that blue lotus doesn't come close to making scoplamine less crazy. I remember there were threads and threads at the old entheogenic message board about how to make scoplamine work, and many times blue lotus was brought up with no effect. Look, I'm not trying to tell you what to do. I'm just saying that in all my years doing drugs, I've never heard of anyone making scoplamine safe. It's too risky. Like I said, I'm not trying to tell you what to do, but you say the blue lotus *may* affect the delierent aspect... may. There are so many less dangerous ways to potentiate opiates. It really just seems like an unnecessary risk. To each his own, obviously, but I'm just putting that out there. Opium + blue lotus + valerian root sounds like a great combo by itself.
