I've read fresh is better than dried. I'm growing some poppies and want to use the seeds for cooking aswell. I know you kind of need to let them dry in the plant to use them. Can you just cut them off at the stem and dry them while green? Are they gonna lose alkaloids drying or is it a biological process that turns the morph to cod, which would be stopped by chopping them? Thanks.
Tldr: can you dry green poppies and they be as potent as before dried? Do you just want to avoid them browning on the stalk?
