I had some opium while I was in the golden triangle four or five years ago. It was interesting to say the least. Didnt have much of a smell to it until you started to vaporize it. Of course exhaling it tasted like a bouquet of flowers. The consistency of this particular form of opium (non latex, refined) was brown tree sappy material that just got all over the place if you werent careful.


edit: people who are wondering where to go to get a real opium experience, bamboo huts with cots and pipes try crossing friendship bridge into laos, but also cambodia is a place where you will be approached and can go back to your hotel room with some.

also, chiang mai thailand has a scene if you run into the right people however thailand is not the place you want to be caught with drugs

I am able to get opium from the SEA area about once per year through relatives that get it in Vancouver,.B.C. ,and it is very nice and mellow and a good high.Nothing as intense as heroin tho,but since it is only available once a year ,I always buy several grams or so and enjoy laying around smoking opium...lol..REd Rock opium..lol..thats Dragon's Blood Incense,knew that for 10 years and I heard of people talking about it a few weeks ago,and they were upset to hear that it was just incense..lol..where the hell had they been to have not heard it was crap incense..besides opium is not red anyway..lol..and people buying black tar heroin as opium is crazy ,the two are smoked in different ways and smell nothing alike ,although I suppose if one neve rhad opium they might not know any better.

I don't find myself a connoisseur of opium at all. It's not like opium can be bought easily in Eastern Europe. It pays off much better to make heroin off it and sell it than to smuggle raw opium and find clients for it. If there's opium to be bought just like heroin on streets, it's surely not here. If you've got a source of opium poppy, then you can try different forms of it but that's a different thing as some cultivate the plant no matter the prohibition (well, if it's contracted, you may do it but everything is contracted). I smoked opium a few times, it was goldish orange brown and I used a pipe that anyone would probably use for smoking it. What's different about smoking this is that I actually got sweaty (it's more pronounced when you drink an extract from the straw and that way it also is longer lasting) while I used morphine to chill out and forget about the cruel world around.

An American staying at our hotel in Amsterdam gave me some of them when I was having a difficult trip. They must be strong - they made me sleep on about 5 hits of acid (we'd bought a load of broken up red stars, but there was whole purple mikes in there - very difficult to gauge how much we were taking so we just divided it evenly and did the lot) I was for the whole next day as well - I nearly walked under a tram a few times

ELABORATE RITUALS
Chandu is smoked in special wooden pipes. A bowl is attached to the pipe where opium smoulders and produces fumes which are lustily inhaled. The initial few puffs of the pipe create a feeling of euphoria. In China and many other parts of the world, opium dens are found where people can smoke opium in groups. These opium dens are more or less like modern bars with the difference that no alcohol is served in opium dens: only opium rules the roost. Although in the modern era, the hypodermic needle and heroin have replaced the pipe, opium smokers regard their vice as `decent' in comparison to the needle addicts. Sessions with the pipe continue ritualistically and the group of smokers who partake follow stated procedures. Such ceremonials are presided over by a `chef' one who is skilful at rolling and cooking the opium pills (made from chandu) and knows how to warm the pipe to the proper temperature.
Such ceremonials are followed more strictly in China than in any other part of the world. The smokers lie on their sides on the floor, rather than on mats while they `kick the gong around'(pass the pipe). The `proper' position, however, is to rest one's head on the abdomen of the next smoker. Each pill (yen pock) lasts from thirty seconds to three minutes and to satisfy the average smoker, six to ten pills must be prepared and consumed. The gathering occasions much conversation; real and imaginary exploits are recounted and elaborate tales recited by persons who ordinarily are quiet and reticent. Fumes from the burning opium condense in the bowl and the stem of the pipe as well as on the `gee rag' a piece of cloth which holds the bowl in position on the saddle of the pipe. This residue is known as yen shee or `opium dross' and is saved for its alkaloidal content. After the smoking session, this residue is scraped from the pipe and retained for future use, generally when the regular supply of opium is not available. `Opium dross' can be mixed with unsmoked opium or dissolved in wine or other alcoholic beverages. In solution form it can be drunk or injected into the body. This solution is referred to as yen shee suey and, though a poor substitute for cooked opium, it can sustain an addict when the real thing is not available.

That's just beautiful! If I could get opium, I wouldn't bother with the powder. Eat a little bit in the morning to get me through the day and a nice pipe when I got home. Oh yes!

Methaqualone is the same as qualududes, in commonwealth countries it went by the name of mandrax, This was a combibation of methaqualone and diphenhydramine which interfered with its metabolisim increasing its bioavailability. How is drought land, looked for new thread yesterday and couldn't find it.

From what I hear, Licit methaqualone is Rx's in Switzerland- the last place in the world, manufactured by a pharm company in cyprus, republic of, of all places. Southern Africa, especially have illicitly scenes for Mandrax- the hot spots include the west cape area and Nambia.

There was a lude ring in NYC that was supplyinp yje jet set that got rolled up recently.

My wife got ludes in mexico yaears ago and they called it "mex X for" evocative high of the drug. Considered a very euphoric drug.

My first true opiate experience was opium. It came as a piece resembling brown rock candy. But the taste- I remember was heavenly and the high dreamy. I took a nap listening to Led Zeplin's "rain song" on this beuatiful rainy november day in Northern California in 1987. That song will always carry positive conotations. But the taste was part of the experience- like with good bud, it appealed to the olfactory and gustatatory senses in addition to the dreamt high. Wonder if other alkaloids besides morphine and the piddly amount of codiene contribute to the experience?

I've always thought there must be. Opium has a unique feel to it that is certainly not comparable to the feel of codeine or morphine. Or any other product that is produced from the poppy that I've come across. Definitely some strange, sweet and sexy synergy going on in whatever is inside that particular poppy product.

I highly recommend combining it with psyches/dissociatives. The dreamy, euphoric languidness of it synergises perfectly with all such combos I've tried. Opium + ketamine in particular is made of 100% pharm-grade win

I love this shit.
I've had real O from overseas, home produced O and shit that was extracted from dried poppies.
Of all these, I enjoyed the real, domestic O the most, very flowery and pleasant high. As far as getting fucked up though, the very concentrated stuff made from the dried poppies was the best, but it was really close to being just straight pantopon. I think there is something unique about having all the alkaloids together that gives a high unlike any other from opiates.

II think that a lot depends on your location, though the distinctive taste is always there somewhere. Here, Hen and Chickens, despite not yielding shitloads, seems to suit the climate. After all, it has been grown in the UK since the mid 1500s, and should be well acclimatised by now! Lilac Afghan or Shyama give much more latex but appear to lack the strength.
I do experiment with mixtures, and 2 years ago found that a 50% H&C, and 25% each of Tasman and Giganthemum made a lovely smoking opium. Took about 3 days to evaporate to just the right consistency after boiling and filtering, but well worth it for all that the British crop yield is so small.
I'd always keep the Hen and Chicks in the majority for potency's sake. As a matter of interest, have the seed companies in America lowered the price of Persian White and Shyama as much as over here? The 'new' Shyama is going in Sutton's Seeds and Thomson and Morgan by the gram (c.3500 seeds) for something ridiculous like £5 per pack. Same as a standard 400 pack of H&Cs. But you are seeing a lot of relatively new poppies round the gardens now, like Seriously Scarlet and an odd looking apple green Danebrog. It would be interesting for me to see the P.somniferum sections of US seed catalogues and the pricing. With so many climatic zones you must have regional editions.
Anyway, apart from just looking so cool, it's the real old traditional varieties that predominate here.

Totally agree that opium is unique & stands far apart from morphine or codeine, alone or combined. Some little beauty in those pods gives it the legs of a kenyan runner.

I dont know much about the varietys of pods but i can say i prefer the oral method to smoking, tho i've never had more than a lump the size of the O on our keyboards so what the hell do i know, except yes the smell & taste of opium is like nothing else.

Whenever i ingest a bowl of tea i make it ceremonious, taking a moment to give silent thanks to the earth for giving me this divine plant.

I've smoked a little, I've filled mixing bowls with pounds of seeds bought from a health food store until eventually i'm sure they stopped selling the bags of it because of me. I've had pods of all shapes & sizes & the only way to tell how strong it's going to be is by how bitter it tastes.

The pods i pluck from my garden are fairly weak, but there's a lot of them & 25/30 will have me feeling like i have legs made of helium & vagina within 60 mins & i can go to sleep at the drop of a hat or stay awake for 2 days, that's the nature of its effect.

Also i've been caught off guard brewing up 12 of what i knew to be strong pods, feeling wonderful during the wee hours of night only to awaken to the feeling of an axe hitting my skull & the worst nausea i've ever experienced followed b a trip to the toilet to puke hard but fantastic afterwards putting one in mind of scenes in films where a heroin user is vomiting with a smile of their face.

When i was 17 before i even really knew anything about opium & had never done a pharmaceutical opiate, i'd slice open fresh pods collecting latex on a penknife then licking the sting inducing sap off with my virgin tongue.

Recently ive had the privilege to drink good old fasioned opium with alcohol cough syrup, a real throwback to the days of yore when laudenum was a staple in an englishmens home. Delicious stuff.
