I used to not be able to tolerate opiates at all. I believed this to be case because whenever I would take norco, I would get sick afterward. The sickness consisted mainly of INCAPACITATING nausea and a strange feeling of a lump in my throat as if I had swallowed a pill and it had gotten stuck (though this wasn’t the case). My second to last time taking norco I experienced this sickness for four days following a single dose. My last time taking norco I experienced it for 7 days following a single 15 mg dose. It was so bad that I missed an entire week of classes at college and spent the entire week in bed in extreme discomfort. It remains one of the worst weeks of my entire life, I even saw a doctor who was as baffled as I was. I must also mention that I got a similar sickness from using tramadol (ulctracet) and the one and only time I took codeine I experienced severe abdominal cramping. I should also note that I have never had an opiate dependency or withdrawal.
So that lead me to believe that I for some reason could not tolerate opiates any more. To provide a bit more background, when I first started with opiates I started with vicodin and although it never made me as sick as the norco did, I would sometimes get the lump in my throat feeling and one night of pretty bad nausea from it. I had some good, normal opiate experiences too though.
For forward a few years I finally decide its time for another go and this time I tried kratom. Kratom gave me no problems, so I assumed that I could tolerate kratom but not actual opiates. However not too much time later, curiosity got the better of me and I snorted some hydromorphone. It was a great experience with no nausea and no lump in the back of my throat. Since then I have used a few grams of heroin and I never get anything like the side effects I used to get from norco or tamadol. I can take high doses, enough to nod out and still feel virtually no nausea, and definitely no lump in my throat.
So does anyone have any explanation for this? I find it so odd. I don’t think the sickness was caused by APAP because I never had any problems tolerating Tylenol on its own. The only other explanation I can think of is that some filler/binder in the pills that is used in both tramadol and norco and to a lessor degreee vicodin caused the sickness. I don’t think that really males sense either though, because the sickness really seemed to mimic opiate nausea, just far, far worse.
The only explanation I can come up with is that my body somehow developed an ability to tolerate opiates as I aged. I still haven’t tried to take any more norco though, I don’t dare.
