Opioids and Anxiety

Oxycodone and hydrocodone have been great anxiolytics and antidepressants for me. I dose once a day, usually 20mg of oxy or 30mg of hydro. I take them at night and they seem to have a subtle carryover effect of less anxiety and depression the next day even though I'm not high. Clearly I can't do this forever but at the moment it is greatly increasing my quality of life, so much so that it seems worth the risk right now.

I would like to add that kratom is not a good anxiolytic as it has too much of an edge to it. I was taking it for 3 months and although I did enjoy the effects it caused too much anxiety when I didn't take it. I wouldn't call it full blown withdrawal but I could definitly tell I was much more anxious when I would take it everyday. I was taking 5-12 grams of powdered Bali leaf, two doses a day everyday for a few months.

I would say yes to both things, because they're depressants and will slow your body down and calm you down. The downside being when you run out of those opiates and have even worse anxiety than when you were at square one.

I just had almost 1 month of building anxiety (I am tapering). Anybody else notice you need to be very careful of stressful stimuli while trying to cut down? Today I tried to get high and felt dysphoric like FrozenAddict was sayin...

My doc just put me on gabapentin and I noticed that it reduced my anxiety, I still have my Xanax on standby if needed....
