Opioid Tolerance

Hey guys,

I would like to know, how does an opioid tolerance works. I mean, for example, lets suppose that I had started to use opioids, in my very first time, with a 90mg of Codeine in day one, increasing 30mg to my dose everyday (because of the resistence) until day five. Will i have some considerable tolerance to opioids now?

Im asking this because ive been taking differents kind of opioids in the past few days. And ive dont feel the opioid high like some people describe here. My very first dose was 5mg oxycodone, i felt a little relaxed but nothing awesome, then ive been trying some tramadol, about 100mg, also no pleasent feelings, then ive tryed some Codeine about 120mg mixed with 10mg of Diazepam (valium). thats where i had my first body high. Anyway, would like to know about the opioid resistence in the first place. take that second part as a personal experience.

Some people need more opioid drugs because their opiate receptors are less sensitive. This is different from 'tolerance' you get from excessive usage.

It looks like you haven't been taking very big doses at all. If you're looking for a high then I suggest you stop before you end up in trouble; some people just don't like opiates like the rest of the junky world, and escalating your dosage everyday is a great way to get addicted.

Nobody can tell you how you'll react to a certain dose of a certain drug. Know thyself. Everyone is wired a little differently.

ill just get a few days off them, no opioids just some benzos u know, then ill come back with full strenght hahaha, i love drugs, always been a hash and weed smoker, tryed some shrooms in amsterdam also, i feel great with them but i still wanna find my ideal opioid dosage and drug, here in brazil we dont have a lot of opioids available u know, benzos on the other hand are very cheap and easy to get, i love diazepam with some hash, makes me feel nice.

This is how tolerance works, basically: as the opioids bind to the opioid receptors constantly (say you are using everyday), your brain wants to get itself back to normal. Thus it down-regulates the receptors; makes them less sensitive to the actions of not only opioids but your brain's natural endorphins as well. This down-regulation occurs with opioid receptors through out the body, and is what causes withdrawal.

Some people have a natural tolerance to opioids though for whatever reason; it takes them more the first time to actually get high or feel the therapeutic effects.

If you used like you stated in your first post, at the end of the 5 days you would have a slight tolerance, yes.

Yeah don't expect much from Tramadol i have a low opiate tolerance and didn't even feel anything from a 200mg dose of Tramadol
