I am 24 years old and living in a world where it is (obviously) very challenging to get proper medical care if you are in chronic pain. My Pain Management doctor has been a well renowned doctor for 25 years in our community. Beginning in February of 2014 I was started on 6 5mg Roxycodone. I was moved onto 2 15mg Roxycodone in May of 2014. I asked if I could have a dose increase last month and when being told no I asked if he would switch me to Dilaudid. He said something to the extent of "Yeah, i'll switch you to 3 4mg Dilaudid but when you're in horrible pain because they don't work as good you'll just have to deal with it because I can't switch you in the middle of the month. So I'll see you in 30 days instead of 60 in case it doesn't work. If it does we will keep you on the Dilaudid and if it doesn't we may switch you to Oxymorphone or put you back on Oxycodone".
I Always snort my pills. I started snorting the 15mg Roxy's in May of 2014 when I got them. When I got the Dilaudid I snorted them too. The Roxy's never made me sleepy - they rarely even made me nod. Even if I snorted 60mg in 8 lines over the course of 30 minutes. It seemed to be more euphoric, less stoned feeling and worked well as an analgesic. The first time I snorted the Dilaudid it gave me a headache and did not help my pain at all. The second time it was a little better. By the 5th or 6th time snorting them it helped the pain - a lot - but it made me nod SO much that I could barely function. I'd do all 3 of them in 6 lines over 30 minutes just like the Roxy's.
So, if given the opportunity to choose between 15mg Roxy (I know this isn't a lot or a very strong dose), 4mg Dilaudid (Also not a lot) and 5mg/10mg Opana IR (I've never tried Oxymorphone at all before) which would you choose?
