Opioids opiates while diagnosed with mono. will this benefit me?

I went to the hospital today and was diagnosed with mono after being in immense pain for a few days. Not only are my tonsils swollen and covered in bumps but im getting insane body aches, discomfort and migraines. Im only 18 so its common for people my age to have mono and it should go away in three weeks but im not sure how opiates affect the immune system. I took 5mg of roxicodne every 4 hours today and it helped a ton, but will taking opiates slow down my recovery time altogether?
 
I would think it would slow down recovery somewhat as oxycodone lowers your body temperature... I'd only take them when necessary and leave your body to recover as much as possible.
 
Plain and simple NO go ahead and take your medicine to keep yourself feeling better. It will not slow down your healing at all. The only risk is addiction or dependence on the medicine you are taking but if you do what your doctor tells you everything will be fine. Just take the smallest effective dose for the shotest amount of time. Good Luck hope you feel better.

Shiet.. I wish. Everyday when im at work and on oxy I swear I lose like 10 lbs. of sweat each day, its rediculous even when im sitting down reading the newspaper im sweating bullets, pretty annoying..
 
^Oxycodone definitely induces hyperthermia... I know it feels like you're warm, but you actually generally cool down a bit.
 
ah mono--I had that when I was 17 or so. that's the first time I got high on an opiate, albeit a lowly T3. I discovered I loved the feeling. I was really sick--I could barely swallow food for a week. the cure for me was prednisone (very short term) as opposed to using opiates to cover the pain. if you cover the pain you risk making the throat worse, though I'm not saying you shouldn't take the meds anyway. I'm just saying: beware of enjoying yourself. ;-)
 
Thanks for the replies! I will continue to take the painkillers until I recover. This isn't the first time i've been prescribed painkillers i had to take them for a month when i had surgery once and had no problem stopping.

haha dont worry this isn't the first time ive taken opiates. I've taken them for surgery before and occasionally for recreation.
