I have been taking opiates for a year now. I take percocet usually with Tylenol 3 and have also taken hydromorphone slow release. The past 6 months I've been taking 4-6 percocet with 3-5 tylenol 3 . . . I haven't really Ben overly worried about liver issues because I wasn't taking over 4000 mgs aceteminophine a day. I have a lot of back pain as I have moderate to severe narrowing if my L5 S1 and althritus. My GP is trying to get me off the pecocet so won't give them to me anymore so now I'm on hydromorph contins 3mg and Tylenol 3's. Due to my high opiate tolerance I've been taking 3-4 of the hydromorph contains and 5-7 tyleonol 3's once a day and then 5-7 Tylenol once or twice more a day so around 21 t3's a day . . . This morning I woke up with insane burning pain in my stomach which I've had before but not this bad and really bad diarrhea . . . I took 4 t3's some tums and went back to sleep I feel okay now but I'm wondering if it wa from an OD on the acetaminophen? I'm afraid to ask the dr because I don't want to reveal the amount I'm using. Ideas? Suggestions? If I reduce the amount I use now can any further damage occur or has the damage potentially been done? It almost feels like I have an ulcer and I recently started taking acid reflux medication because everytime I would take even 3 t3's I would get acid reflux really bad.

Any input would be appreciated and if my post is in the incorrect place please move it :)

I would honestly tell your doctor that acetoaminophen is causing an ulcer and ask him to change your pain medication into something like OxyContin as your conditions do not need any NSAIDs. They are from nerve pain and those do nothing for it. Coupled with pregabalin (Lyrica) it would do wonders for your pain without causing liver damage. If he does not want to change it, then take your medical records with you and find a pain management specialist.

I've taken lyrica before and hated it. I felt anxious and zombie like and it really messed me up and made me super dizzy and nauseous. I finally got a referral to a pain specialist but they said it will take a while to get in. He gave me a prescription for Valium & t3's and sent me on my way. I just worry that with my current usage of the t3's being that I have such a high tolerance will do damage to my liver. My GP not giving me pain meds made me decide to go to a walk in which is where I got the t3's and valium while my GP gave me hydrorph contin which is a slow release pain reliever buy it's not working. I think my doc is suspicious I'm shopping around because when I went to get a 2nd opinion they sent me in for another X-ray and my GP was sent the results too. Anyway I just wanted to consult with a diff doc to see what my options were. The last two walk in docs I've seen though say they don't have triplicate pads which i know us crap so I wonder if I've somehow been blacklisted or red flagged? For just getting a 2nd opinion seems odd. So for now I'm just living with the t3's but I'm kinda nervous now I've done/am doing damage to my liver.

If you can get in to see your current doc (the one giving t3's), ask him for tylenol 4's. Twice the codeine per same amt of apap.

If it were me, I'd do cold water extractions from now on, all u need is some thick plastic bags and a hammer and some coffee filters. Methods are explained in bluelight threads, use CWE as search term.

I'd get switched (if you can) to MSIR (instant release morphine) or roxicodone (instant release oxycodone). I am a bit confused though, how many T3's do you take a day, and how many are you prescribed to take a day? What is the deal with the extended-release hydromorphone, are you using that now, what strength is it? Are you still taking the Percocet, what strength are they, how many are you currently taking, and how many are prescribed. Sorry for the questions but I am a bit confused.

Acetaminophen is a COX-1 inhibitor so it can cause ulcers...but not acid reflux. I know this because I am a quite talented opiate extractor. The codeine I extract is ultra pure, 1 pill that I make maybe has 0.1mg APAP in it.

Codeine by itself can cause acid reflux and if taken regularly, the reflux can even turn moderate or even moderately severe. I myself was victim of this. I started taking codeine on a regular basis this february. By march I had moderate reflux and burned up my esophagus pretty badly so I had to get on famitidine HCl and ranitidine in order to control stomach acid. Many users on bluelight report huge stomach cramps after codeine consumption.

Some people take opioids for a long time and don't experience acid reflux or any stomach problems but if you are among those who do experience such problems be warned: Your problems will not just continue, they will get worst...a lot worst. You can even end up developing esophagus or stomach cancer. I myself cold turkey on the codeine a month ago and only take it for migraines now which occur about once every 3 weeks. I now have to take PPIs to repair the damage.

Watch out dude. For people like you and me, opiates can be of great use if used to relieve pain solely...but if used all the time it's the end of us I tell you. We have shitty stomach. Just take amphetamine.

I started off taking 3-5 percocet once a day and then started taking 3-5 percocet and 3-5 Tylenol once a day because my tolerance increased. Lately I've been taking 3-5 percocet and 3-5 Tylenol 3 2x per day. Last week my doc said no more percs so now due to my opiate tolerance and dependency and pain I was prescribed to take 1-3mg hydromorph contin twice a day and 1-2 t3's 4x a day but I've been taking upwards of 15 t3's a day. The doctors where I'm from don't believe in pain mess so it's hard to find a doc that will prescribe them. I think I'll reduce my dose to a safe one and just ask the doc to put me on something without acetaminophen in it. The hydromorph doesn't have any so maybe he'll give me instant release because the 3 mg slow release doesn't help with the pain at all.

It wouldn't be so confusing if I stuck to one dr and took what's prescribed how it's prescribed.

If you could I would try to switch all your meds to something completely non-APAP. I'd suggest trying to go for morphine or oxycodone, either instant release or extended release. You are taking too much APAP daily, so CWE if you have to in the mean time. I would just say to the doc, the hydromorphone extended release doesn't really help at all, and I have to take more T3's to control the pain, and that they don't help much either, just take the edge off a little. Ask if you can just get switched to one pain med that would work.

Well I got royally screwed by the pharmacist today stupid chick decided to call the doc that prescribed me percs to see if he knew I'd seen other doctors in the past month . . . Uh duh lady I don't have a family doctor so I see whatever walk in doc happens to be in. Anyway needless to say the doc canceled my prescription and I was SOL to now be labeled as a drug seeker when my only fault was going to 2 diff walk ins to get pain meds for my legit back issues. The pharmacist gave the doc my ENTIRE history like what dic prescribed what medication and on what day. Isn't the against the law? I though that was confident??

well I can see why the way you were taking them it will ruin your liver. All at once like that holy crap thats alot of apap all in one dose. If your back hurts why the whole take it only once in a huge dose? Why not split the doses up? I live everyday in chronic pain an have 6 kids and don't do that shit. I guess I would try to find a different doctor that will hear you out and be up front about what was going on and what you did and the reason you did it. When someone like you gets undertreated for pain it ends up being a pusedoaddiction. Meaning you don't get the right dose of pain relief so you take it upon yourself to take more than prescribed and end up being looked at as a drug seeker rather than a person in pain. Good Luck its not going to be a easy task finding someone who will treat you. Take a copy of your xrays with you to the next doctor you see.

Well when your in extreme pain and all the docs will give u is t3's you have to take lots for it to work or the pain. When I was lucky enough to find an understanding doctor to prescribe percs my tolerance quickly grew and I had to take more to help with the pain. Now because of the stupid pharmacist who had nothing better to do with her time then question the fact that I went to two diff walk ins twice I now won't get an advil from a doctor in this town again. I live on a small town . . . So unfortunately I suffer or take it to the streets. Doctors and pharmacists have gotten WAY too paranoid!

Doctors & Pharmacists work together in these instances. You getting prescribed by several doctors was a matter of time for you getting caught & having you main doctor finding out. Always stick with one doctor unless he isnt helping the situation.

If you must see another doctor, space out the time between visits so no one gets suspicious & it doesnt matter if you have legit pain, now a days, they are looking for any excuse to label anyone a "drug seeker"
