I have been addicted to opiates for 20 years...I am now on suboxone and have severe back pain so the doc prescribes tramal...I'll be honest,I'm also trying to get high...he's upped my tramal from 100mgs to 200 mg tablets,I normally take 1000mgs and dont even feel it...can anyone tell me how you get a high whilst on suboxone combined with tramal and also, how do I start a thread in the suboxone area. I am a new member here. Cheers.

Hiya KriZt,

Welcome to Bluelight. 'Tis a great community here and you've made a good choice in joining.

A few links that may be of interest to you are as follows:

Suboxone / Buprenorphine Megathread and FAQ V.18.0 http://www.bluelight.org/vb/threads/716293-Suboxone-Buprenorphine-Megathread-and-FAQ-v-18-0 This thread is situated in the forum, Other Drugs, which discusses many different drugs including opiates link is http://www.bluelight.org/vb/forums/58-Other-Drugs Moderators and members are very helpful with things such as detoxing, questions about IV, harm reduction and so forth.

I've just re-read your post - and my suggestion would be to 1, use the search facility at the top-right of the screen, simply type in a word eg suboxone and threads containing that word will appear. I'm not sure if you can type a question. You'll have to either try it or ask a moderator. I'd also suggest that you ask this in the suboxone mega thread, the link I have given you above and read various other suboxone mega threads. Because a lot of people have asked the same question you are asking and without coming across as preachy, it's a harm reduction answer that you'll be given.

A lot of people have overdosed by trying to get high on drugs whilst on suboxone and my suggestion to you, and please don't think I am trying to be funny or judgemental with you in any way, is that if you are still wanting to get high and researching ways of doing so, then you really shouldn't be on suboxone. It can be extremely dangerous to try and do this so if you are going to go ahead I would advise you to do so WITH CAUTION and research as much as you can on this site before using so.

I hope I haven't scared of you off with this novel of a post. Please feel free to ask any questions and one of the moderators or BL Ambassadors will help you.

All the best,
Evey

Welcome to BL!

Please don't take high dose tramadol; it can be bad for you at such a high dose.

CH, I need to learn to be like you n say things in a few words instead of writing out a novel of a post lol.

I have been a bit worried about the OP, tbh n it's good someone like you is here to give straight forward advice.

It's best to not take that much tramadol as there is a seizure risk. Everyone is different and it has nothing to do with opiate tolerance.

I personally had a friend have a seizure on ten tramdaol. I have taken more than that and I was fine.

I am not giving you dose advice by any means, but I really would hate to see someone have a seizure when it could be avoided.

If you have any questions just ask or send me a private message, but if you respond in this thread I will know it.

I have taken 1000mgs throughout the day but will stop...i live alone and if i have a seizure it wont end well with me...i cant dfeel anything from the tramal anyway...ive also taken 20mg mogodon,6mgs klonipin...i just wish i could get high for one day and escape...i am doing remarkably well on the suboxone and my whole life has changed dramatically...with my back injuries maybe im better off ditching the suboxone and go on morphine patches....and the worst thing,i cant feel ANY of this medication, ive had pills shoved down my throat at 14 and cant seem to break the cycle 3 decades later...only difference is i cant feel it :( plz dont judge,i just want to escape, even just for a little while

Hiya KriZt,

Have you spoke to anyone about all like like a counsellor? Some people get alarmed when I mention counselling but it may be beneficial in helping you get to the buttom of why you can't break the cycle re medication.

I am not sure, to be honest, whether we have a thread for addiction n pain. If we do, could someone please give the link for KriZt?
If not, then it would be useful to have something created because there are a lot of people in a similar situation to yourself n it may be beneficial for you to talk with them.

Have you checked out the suboxone megathread? The link I gave you above?
Dopemaster has also given you a link to Other Drugs directory, which contains a morphine megathread as well as other useful n informative threads.

I'm sorry all this may seem a bit daunting with being new but before you know it you'll be familiar with everything here.

I'm still learning stuff seven months later.

I also strongly advise that you speak with a doctor before coming off suboxone. Morphine may help your pain but you end up back into the addictive cycle, which may cause more harm than good. There may be other forms of medication that could help you. Obviously it's your choice at the end of the day n you who is dealing with the pain but please have a think about it n maybe look around BT n talk to others in a similar position to yourself.

Come to think of it the recovery forums may be of help to you. I know of a few there who are also dealing with chronic pain on a daily basis. I'm sorry I can't give you the links right now as I'm on my iPhone. They are called Sober Living, Mental health n The Dark Side.

You can talk about your drug problems on here. It's just that there are different threads / sub-forums for different topics.

This current thread is called suboxone / buprenorphine mega thread n so it's for discussion of bupe / sub n associated topics.

It's confusing at first. It would be good for you to contact one of the BL Ambarrassadors who could help you get settled onto the site further.

I am sent you a PM (E-mail) explaining how to PM a person.

You take care ok?! You've come to the right place (BL), honest.

Evey :) xxxx

Hi KriZt, you have to be a bluelighter to send and receive PMs from anybody except staff members. Hope this helps:)

I think Greenlighters can only send a pm every 90 minutes and just to staff.

Did you have a question kriZt? To send a private message just click on my name and click send private messages and type one out and hit send. If you do want to PM me that is fine and I will respond when I can.

You can also talk to me right here in this thread and the other ambassadors can help you out as well. I posted links to basic drug discussion, other drug discussion, and the other one is an advanced drug discussing despite it having a more complex name.

As far as you not catching a buzz its because you take suboxone.

The low doses of morphine and tramadol are not going to ove-ride the suboxone in terms of catching a buzz. I know it is possible to feel a bit of pain medications when you are on a low dose of suboxone but really it is so counterproductive it is not worth it.

The analgesic effect tends to compile, but still it's not good to take suboxone and pain medication together.

If it was me, I would make a choice as to whether I wanted to be on suboxone or pain medication.

It's really up to you if you want to go back on pain medication, but after struggling with addiction its gonna take a rather large dose and a great deal of self control or you will find yourself feeling quite ill. If you are not in pain, I think it would be a really bad idea.

If I was not in pain I would not take pain medication. I actually am at the point where I am really sick of opiates as I usually wake up feeling ill and have to wait for my medication to kick in and have a great deal of difficulty sticking to my schedule as it is very easy to take a couple extra just this once and well that tends to lead to taking more and more.

The urge to get high is always going to be there. Even if you get an RX for a large amount of opiates, chances are you will still want more. I would definitely stay away from medications like oxycodone as they have no ceiling in terms of tolerance.

So I guess it's something you want to think about pretty damn hard. If you struggled with addiction it is a long dark road and I know this from personal experience. Do you really think you have the willpower, patience, and a physician who will work with you to get your dose squared away because I seriously doubt that tramadol and a small dose of morphine is going to cut it.

I myself am a chronic pain patient and well, there were a few times were the medication did not cut it and I got into habituation and it was a bitch to overcome and well I am not even sure if I have completely overcome it.

I suppose I am stable on my medications, but the urge is there and I often got to stick to my dosing schedule or I end up feeling very shitty. Also, it took quite some time to get my dose to where I was comfortable.

So once I let my pain medication use get out of control it took me years to get back on track, maybe longer. My injuries did get a bit better though after years of rehabilitating the injury myself, but I am still in a great deal of pain so that is why I stick to my medication as directed and well I was on the oxy-type drugs and I switched to morphine.

See when I went to a pain clinic they often switched my medications switched about and I found the whole thing quite frustrating. I did not want to be on the medications they gave me despite the fact that the average junkie would prefer them. They would give me this crap "you cannot be married to a medication" but really it turned out they were taking bribes from pharmaceutical companies to RX different medications.

That is just me, but I found morphine ER to be the most suitable medicine. That being said I take it about 3 times a day, as a 12 hour pill does not last more than 8 for me.

It took a very long time for my doctor to get my dose sorted out and I refuse to go to a pain clinic because I find it to be such a hassle. It is so annoying to me to go to a pain clinic that I do not care if I get half the medication because now I am on the same medicine and it is not changed whenever a new medicine comes out.
