Opioids Opiates causing Panic Attacks?

Thanks Everyone for all the help and useful info...I have stopped doing copious amounts at once and have since noticed that the panic attacks have subsided....I came to the conclusion that it is just the onset of an OD...Like BBEN said..I believe that i just start panicking and thinking i did WAY to much....and 2 Blueberryfishy...Yes they are real i get them from the pharm but thanks for the look-out <3 xoxoxoxo Bella

Hmmm...strange! I noticed that I have SEVERE anxiety when smoking weed since starting opiates, so anything's possible. Maybe it has something to do with respiratory depression/breathing effects?

I'd attribute this to the marijuana most likely. Marijuana makes people panic and stress all the time. Freaking out over your breathing is not uncommon... nor are any other strange paranoias.

I think people jerk themselves out of nods pretty regularly, but from what it sounds like, these are a bit deeper of nods than the usual nod. What I mean is that when you are just kinda noddy from a decent dose, you are still like half-conscious for the nodding period... On larger doses, it seems to be more of a snap back to reality... possibly, it could be a snap back to consciousness. If that is the case, then your oxygen levels are definitely dropping to lower than healthy levels and this should definitely be kept in check.

I suspect it has to do with lower oxygen levels as well.

In past psychology lab participants, we've used CO2 masks to trigger panic and anxiety in order to study it, its a fairly effective method.

^Wow, yeah, that study could have been designed to test this theory... It definitely makes sense that lack of oxygen would be a stressor, and that would cause people to rouse from their nods... Thanks for posting that!

It probably doesn't really have to do with opiates and just anxiety. Off weed i would kind of get the same thing for a little while. I would trip my self out by thinking i am not breathing and such. That would cause anxiety and sometimes go into a panic attack. Now that i am more tolerant to weed i ignore all of that , and i get no anxiety unless i have smoked too much in a crowd of unknown people. Just make sure you aren't taking too much that you are in a heavy nod, in that case you don't know if it is anxiety or an actual concern.

It happens to me only with oxycodone for some reason. Last spring canada still had normal oxycontin and i would chew 4-5 10mg ones at a time.

Well I would get really itchy, with tachycardia etc. Not really an allergic reaction, but it wasn't pleasant, it wasn't OD as I was used to eat 2-3 OXY IR 20mg and that was okay, but anything over 30mg and I would have panic attacks yes.
