Ok heres my deal. For the past 3 nights I've been taking about 6 - 10 Vicodin ES (7.5mgs) every night. And Every night I have also gotten only about 2.5 to 4 hours of sleep.
I've felt like a zombie every day for the past 3 days as well. Tonight, I decided to score 2mgs of Xanax to get some sleep.
I have already taken my Xanax, and I also took three Vicodin ES pills. And I am considering taking about 3 or 4 more.
If I do take 3 or 4 more Vicodins, will the Xanax still be able to put me to sleep when I lay down, or not?

#1) correct me if i'm wrong, but shouldnt you refrain from trying to sleep while on opiates? they slow your breathing and heart rate, hence making it very dangerous to fall asleep.
#2) why the fuck are they causing insomnia? every experience i've ever had with opiates/painkillers was the opposite, they'd cause me to pass out...
#3) if you're having this problem, why the fuck are you still taking them? get some fucking sleep!

Opiates do the same things to me, also. Especially oxycodone. 40mg insufflated will have me in and out of sleep/itching fits 8 hours after I take it. Morphine is almost as bad.

all i know is if i don't fall asleep when the opiates are in effect, then i'll have trouble falling asleep. I beleive that opiates can cause insomnia for some. This is because opiates are a CNS depressent. when you use them, you are kind of depressing your CNS unnaturally, then when they wear off, your left with all this energy that you depressed with the opiates a while back.

I have the same problem while on opiates. If I take them during the day, it's not an issue, but if I try to sleep while still high, I just lay there. Usually quite relaxed, but no sleep. Anyone know why this is? Sources/links appreciated.

Yep I am the same way too. I am in that half awake half asleep zone. Itching the whole time. LoL. Percocets make me really itchy.

hmm...maybe i'm just weird. i never had trouble falling asleep on opiates, unless i did so much oxy that i was puking, lol.

when i sleep on opiates.. its like somewhere between sleep and awake. Not like the mind racing when trying to sleep on speed or x.. like your sleeping but the whole time your concious of your body and the opiates..
btw, 2 mgs of xanax usually puts me to sleep even if taken 4 or 5 hours after a roll.. it should work fine.. but i wouldnt take anymore vicodens as both are gonna slow your breathing down

No, that's not how it works. If that were the case then people would be wired after they took benzos, barbs, alcohol, or other downers.
I don't know exactly what it is that causes that semi-wired feeling on opiates, but unnaturally depressing the CNS.. no.
Anyways, all opiates keep me somewhat awake. The only days I'm really functional at work and not falling asleep all day is if I inject oxy or something.
The only thing that ever puts me to sleep is a really large dose of heroin. Everything else keeps me up like I've had a few cups of coffee.

I dont really mind not sleeping while on opiates. Your body is so relaxed and you just lay in your bed all happy and warm.

Opiates are renouned for bad sleeping patterns!
Especially if you have a good session+fall asleep straight after.
If you try and keep awake to enjoy the buzz for a while then go to sleep you'll find it helps, ideally give it at least 7hrs after taking heroin b4 sleeping.

I definantly screwed up this fall and winter doing this. I'd stay up half the night on work nights because I didn't want to waste the high. Even though I was nodding out a lot, it's not the same as sleep and you're still exhausted the next day. Of course, you can just shoot the following morning and you'll forget you're tired. Gets you into a really bad habit of using before and doing work.

I usually get really tired on opiates, but can't fall asleep for some reason. It's that in between area that you love and hate sometimes.

Im not saying this is the case for every person. I just know it can affect some. It happens to my mom. If she drinks some alcohol in the evening, then sometimes, or most of the time she won't be able to get to sleep after the alcohol wears off. She's not wired or anything, just restless.

i have the same problem with vikes percs if i take enough i nod but i cant sleep on em whick makes me kinds happy cause why waste the high
