Sorrry for the long post my life is teuly at stake stake please read and post if you have anythijg

Ive made some posts about this. So when younger 5-16 I would siffem from intense stomache pain. To the point where I could cry cry as a 16 on the way to the er. Since Ive had these problems ive easily went to the er over 50 being younger for this. Doctors always said it was intense constipation and they always said I was dehydration and just to take laxitives and it did help until my next bout. and for a while they said I had kidney stones becuase I did pass one in the strainers they have you lee through. But after that problems still came around. It wasn't al the time just at random.

My parents came il with the idea that somehow my diet was causing it so they forced me to eat quite healthy yet no change still

Fastforward some years when I am 17 I be become addicted to opiates just vicodin and oxy and and at time times methadone. And started smoking pot.

Believe it or not the opiates would regulate my! bathroom issues. For the first times in years I could go to the rest room normally. And no more stomach pains.

Fast toward to age 22 still addicted. Have had a job since out of high school and I guess I was what you would call a stable addict. But obviously at by then my tolerance rose. But I was still using oxygen and methadone.

Then all the sudden probably twice a month i wasnr able to go to the resrt room that and would some times vomit. It tot worse and worse. It got to the point where I was throwing up everyday. I could litterallty feel my food or crap or whatever it was run through my body like a snake through a tube. I would go to the er and they would say the. Same thing your constipated take laxitives. But every time they got my urinse they always found blood in my urine. And I mean like 20ish times. Myself I could only see the blood twice.

Due do all of this I quit my job and decided I would to a treatment center to see if that was the issue. I had no drug addict friends maybe people who smoked weed but that was it. And I found a methadone clinic that was the only one as its kind. It was actually classified as a treatment center from what they told me and even people who are court ordered to do to detox were allowed there. Maybe I was misinformored maybe other clinics are the same way.

Anyways now im im methadone. 100mg no change. I had rather bad bout of my stomaxh thing where I actually threw up stool. Sorry about the graphnicess. Before it happened I though I steeped in dog crap or someone farted but it for my intense and I released the smell was comming from my mouth. Next my stomach was bloated to the point where I looked like 4 months pregnant. So I threw up in a bowl and no brown just reddish vomit. I went to dump the the vomit in the toliet I saw the red on top was a very thin layer and underneath was diherra. Without a doubt I could smell it.

Now id like to add before I had any of these issues and with most people when you vomit you usually get very hot water in mouth etc and the whole ideal is like 20 mind then over. But when I vomit I feel the same aymptions but for like 3 hours before I puke.

So after the stool vomit I went to the er and they FINALLY gave me a refferal to an gastrointestinal doc.

The doc was quite the bitch since I was so young being on methadone. But said it sounds like I has gastroparesis. She explained your stomach pumps like your heart to push your food down.but taking opiatess for such a long time can they can relaxe my stomach muscles so much they don't work. But very rarely opiates can cause gastroparesis. And she said the blood in my urine was my extremely constipated feces were scraping my urerthe.

The normal human body starts to digest food in 2 to 3 hours sometimes less. For me who knows there is a test to figure it out but I didn't have insurance at the time.

After hearing that I explained I has vomited food that I had age days ago. Age explained that if food stays in your stomach to long you can grow all kinds of bacteria and you then suggest have a chance of dying. She told me ive been very lucky al far. I went on to explain the rest of the symtpoms blood when going number 2 horrible hotness and sweats stomach pain and no enegery.

She went on to explain that people who are big food eaters and have gastroparesis have actually had there stomach burst

In the worse case scenario they place a pacemakers in youur stomache to shock it al its pumps your food down.

I did my own research and there's only 3 possibly ways to get gasteoparesis is diabetes patients opiates users and they have found it in people who do not take opaites or had diabetes.

I fully believe that opiates are definitely making my problems worse but having like problems before the drugs I feel like I had something serious before the drugs.

Anyways after a very bad bout that lasted a week a went to er. Same thing take laxitives.

That I did. I drank 3 bottles of magnesium citrate for a week. Foe those of who that have had the joy of using that you realizze that it is truly a feat.

The last day I drank the laxitives everything was as is. When I woke up the next day I felt like a brand new person. Almost as a donkey kicked me in the head. I was happy could feel emotion. Felt like I had never started any addiction. I waited a few hours if I would get withdraw before I dosed mmy methadone and I did get sick.
But in half an hour I was high as fuck. The same dose I was taking foe the last 2 years never got mw high until today. It was like was tolerance lowered. Same for pot I smoked a whole bowl like always and it seemed 3x times steonger

I was actually posses about the high im serious about getting clean. Next day I still feel much happy and more mentally stable but it was slowly going away. I told the nurses the doctor the xorporaton about the methadone getting me high and they its ok your body just got a little unstable bull shit.

For the next week I was still getting high then no more. A week later i liar the new better feeling me went back to feeling no emotion and back to batting life.

While I highly doubt it if any of you have been some through anything like this then please reply or have any ideas wwhat going please post imndespirate at thisbpont

Edit: also the gi doctor told me Inc I lowered my.methadone my symptions would get better. Well ive gotten down to 48 from 130 and no change

You must have Autocorrect. That makes reading that extremely tough since it doesn't make sense half the time.

I was going to say this, I couldn't understand much of this post. OP, did they give you a GI series, endoscopy or colonoscopy? If drinking all that magnesium relieved your symptoms then yeah I would say you have been chronically constipated. If your symptoms persist, see another gastro doctor.

A lot of that post didn't make sense as others have said, but I'm trying to figure out how opiates caused your illness, when you said you've been dealing with it since you were 5 years old?

Anyways, hope things get better OP and you figure it out.

Yup my desktop is down all I have to post is a tablet with obviously bad auto correct ill try to skim through the main post and fix things up. Co

When I got to the GI doc she was so rude to me about being on methadone just treating like pure shit. At one point she hadnded me a paper with some sample diet and gave me a dirty look and said something along the times of " do you know how to read still or didn't doing drugs take that from you too."

At the time I was so happy I git a referal to a gi doc at the time I had no insurance. My only choice at the time was the er and I finally get a referal and then I get this hitch doctor. She said" there are tests we can do to prove certain things and mess for people with your contdition but you don't have insurance so I cant help you with any of that.......

Anyways now I have insurance and have a apptointment comming up but not for a month out.

I did my own research on gastroparesis and it explains my symptoms perflectly. Even when I was a kid before drugs. But from what ive read the ones who get it from symptoms get better as the User lowers his dose. And getting down from 130mg methadone to 38 is no small drop and nothings diffrent.

And recently a new symptom has come up that doosnt fit in with the gastroparesis( once again sorry for the disguisting factor) now when. I use my laxitive instead of just having diarrrhea ive been having most of my food come looking the same way it came in just in just chewed up.

And there is a ton of other symptoms I didn't mean to write cause of gross factor but we've al read weird shit on bl. Lets just say I have whiteish gelish stuff when I am able to go on my feces..and a a lot od blood....like running nose kind of blood.

There's many many more stuff going on but i don't want to be to disgusting.

At this point it truly is making my life so unliveable. Friends? Either puking sick or on laxitives. I cant go out to eat anywhere.
Energy wise I feel like a old man this is truly ruining my life and all I have to aide me is pot.

To make things worse I have a very bad father who says I have a month to find a job when all day long he sees me pukin and that our toliet bowl is covered in blood but he says im just lazy am and trying to live free at home and milk his money.

Ive had a job since ive gotten out of school until this happened. Most likely what's going to happen out of this is a destroyed employment history.

Ive spoken to people on these boards who also have gastroparesis and would love for them to chime in.

But im not convinced that's what I have since I started dealing this at a young age.

Thhanks foe your help guys atleast I have you all :) :)

May I ask, how did this happen without you noticing that your digestive system had effectively shut down? Most people who are careful about their opioid use can use common methods even just drinking plenty of water and eating nutritious non-processed foods and even like exercising for ten fucking minutes a day (pain permitting, I have never been RX'd opioids for addiction like you) was the difference between passing a complete bowel movement every day and reducing my opioid dose and just suffering through it until I had another complete bowel movement.

I avoided laxatives like the plague, all of the "easy way, just pop this pill" treatments either you get tolerant to them too and your body gets even more constipated if you stop taking them, but if you haven't gone you should take maybe 1-2 docusate sodium laxatives / stool softeners per week and avoid stimulant laxatives which can be even more harmful and harshly painful on your GI system.

Seriously, if you prioritize your health and actually pay attention to your body and respect the drug and it's extreme potency you can avoid complications like this usually, however there are certain other diseases/illnesses a person can have that can contribute to decreased bowel motility. And medications too other than opioids.... Antichollinergics for example, certain antihistamines and antipsychotics, and everyones unique body chemistry means that everyone reacts differently so everyone's lifestyle needs to be uniquely tailored to that individual and include dietary, physical exercise, hydration, electrolyte intake.

I am really sorry you experienced what you went through but I am curious as to how you didn't notice that there was a problem before your motility reached the level it did, were you just trying to get high off your methadone still and that's why you took 100mg for maintenance while you have a GI pain condition?

With MMT, you don't get to dose methadone the way you need to if you want it to work as a good analgesic, with many doses a day instead of one huge dose taken at once or even twice daily is nothing near what is needed for analgesic purposes. And at 100mg??? I just don't understand how this happened without noticing that you were not using the bathroom for a prolonged time.

If you keep taking more opiates for the pain induced by your bowels being shut down, well, THIS can happen... You don't want to completely mask GI pain, it prevents accurate diagnosing and treatment by healthcare professionals and could supress a symptom that could have been seen as a sign to intervene before this happened. I'm horribly sorry you had to go through that though.

P.S. I have suffered intensely from undiagnosable GI pain (and also chronic back, neck, shoulders from car accidents) since a very young age, and have lived with this pain my whole life, I treated the pain with opiates for half my entire life, and now I'm off them and honestly you should probably consider doing the same. No opiate addict wants to give up their drug of choice, but we have to grow up someday, you won't be young forever and you never were invincible, it's critical to be informed about what you put into your body and what the desired and unintended side effects can be and what to do about them, you can't just do nothing... And I would SERIOUSLY urge you to try staying away from opioids, ESPECIALLY METHADONE, for as long as you can.

Methadone is INFAMOUS for it's potent bowel transit time reduction/complete shutdown. So does buprenorphine / all U.S. approved maintenance drugs are notorious for extreme constipation.

Im not sure how to quote multiple things sorry if its messy.

But I am too confused about your questioning. No offends intended.

Your first senteance first question. I did notice my digestive system is shutting down that's why I aren't to the er so many times. Would pf been a doctor but no insurance. Like I said my doctors before my useage have told I was dehydrayed so my parents only allowed many water and milk since like 14 years old. Ive had the water habit away before I started using.

Like I said I had major.bowel issues my.whole life. When I started taking opiates it helped. It went from going every 2 to 4 days as a child to going 2 to 4 times a day. While that wasn't my normal habit I was so happy about not being constipated.

I agree about not using the stimulant laxitives but again having bowel problems as a kid doctors started with the simple stool softeners and they helped a bit. But when I got the gastroparesis stool sorters fiber and I mean fiber from veggies healthlt food.

And as for not noticing my motility reach the level before it did. I should of mentioned this. This started happening before the methadone clinic. Then pretty much one or two days of constipation(remember opiates made me go more) so I figured it would pass then literally the next day all hell breaks looses and im despiretely sick throwing up not going to the bathroom. I hadn't made any changes to my diet didn't increase my drug use tolerance didn't go up.

I had no idea what the hell was going on. Doctors had no clue but its your drug use(never used needles) go to a treatment center and get help and things will ease up.

At that point I wasn't ready for a full detox but wanted maintanence to taper slowly. Which the doctor(s) said that would be fine only if I didactually taper off because they all told me most patients decied they need it for life. Which when I got to the clinic the doctors were right me and maybe 5 other patients are tapering out of about 800 patients. Anyways like I said I have been tapering gotten down to 48mg just barely more than half way down and no plans to stop.

Im sorry I don't mean offence and understand my post is jumbled no where did I say I was taking my methadone for my stomachs pain. Hell all my drug tests are clean but weed.

And your last paragraph did you not even read how I said I was tapering?

But I agree with maintance drugs being bad on the bowels. Im trying to get low as I can on the methadone then switch to a fast acting opiate until the methadone is out of my system then taper as much as I can then cold turkey. Ive been working on building up a detox kit and have a lot of things to help.

I know a lot of people say its not smart to get on a fast acting opiate from methadone since its some what hard to get high on methadone and a lot easier to get high on say something like oxy. But ive been able to get clean off of short acting opiates and be clean a while but never methadone. And I also have the motivation of my stomache so I am very confident I will be clean when I get there.

I understood your message and am in the same spot

I too have the same issue as you

Okay I'm a type one diabetic who takes care of his diabetes. Iam 44 years old and from the age of 27 to 31 was a heavy user of opiates. I still take 2mg of suboxone daily. I understand the look you get from doctors when you mention the opiates and it's sad. There's been time when I've not been nice right back. Addiction or not im a human being with a problem. I suffer the same affliction. It's called Gastroparesis and its horrible. I throw up and cannot stop. Each episode requires hospitalization for three to four days. I have pooped out of my mouth too. I went from 176lbs to 128 lookong like I was a full in on the set of Schindlers list. It's a horrible disease and once doctors hear you are in recovery they treat you differently. From experience don't allow it. Be your own advocate and fight for your health. I don't know you but I know you're worth it. We all are I went to six doctors before I found a doctor at john Hopkins. Dr. Stein. She's amazing. She treats your disease without judgement. My main issue is yours. Chronic constipation. Opiates slow your entire digestive system. In your case they aren't the cause of the disease but the cause of worsening it. There's a double whammy with you as well and it's the marijuana. Stop that. Stop it now. Yes I know it helps with the nausea but over time the effect it takes on your digestive system is crippling. Pot slows your stomach it also kills a very important protein that your stomach produces and that protein is needed to aid digestion. Without it you're in trouble and chronic long term usage for people in our situation will stop that protein production forever. Constipation is the major issue. My doctor put me on a medication called Linzess. Do whatever you need to get that medication because it will change your life. It has mone. Good luck my friend

Jesus Christ I can't imagine throwing up shit! That's crazy constipated. I control the constipation with miralax and stool softners. Been working well as long as I don't go way overboard with the opiates.
