I think it totally varies from person to person, in terms of what drugs are hardest to kick and which cause the most discomfort in the withdrawal period. For me, benzos are the worst, which is why I like taking diazepam over any other. The half-life is long enough that you're chances of seizing if you binge and run out are lower than those with alprazolam, for example. I can deal with oxycodone WD for a day...after that it kind of seems to be out of my system, so I don't really care, although my pain levels are just high as hell which is more rebound pain than WD symptoms.

As far as opiates being stupid? This really isn't much of an OD thread....I personally love IV heroin. It is a complete waste of money and life, and it's damn near impossible to stay away from once you're hooked on it. The WDs suck, and even if you manage to get through those, you're still left with intense cravings that pop up out of nowhere and pretty much never go away! From 18-20 I abused meth and Dextro-amp. I tried heroin in that time period and I never really saw the draw to it either....Until I started living with people who shot it everyday and tried shooting it 4 or 5 times....After that, I finally got what I was missing about the whole thing...
To me, shooting heroin gives me the feeling of being indoors during a thunderstorm. You can hear the rain the wind and the thunder, but it just can't touch you. You can see al hell breaking loose when you look out the window, but it's dry and warm inside...It's can be a very potent drug, but it has some very subtle aspects to it that make it different than everything else...There's more interesting highs, but nothing else gives me that feeling of peace that heroin does. Is it worth the aggravation? Probably not, but it's a close call!
Tapering with rinses....unless you have a bunch of cottons saved up, I don't really see how you can keep doing rinses without doing full shots. Like Z-Negative said, it's very unsanitary to fuck around with old cookers and cottons....Not too long ago, I had an entire 16 oz cup full of cottons with dried dope running through them....That cup got me high for a good week and a half so I can't really talk....After I finished using those I was scared to death of having endocarditis! I got lucky though....but still, extremely poor HR practice that is!
