Opiates and there effects on your personality

Shit man it makes you just not give a fuck. Fuck hangin out with friends, fuck goin out to a movie, fuck drawing, fuck listenin to music, fuck cleanin up the huge disgusting mess all around from when you just cant be fuckin bothered to throw your used whatever in the trash. Cuz you rather just lay there burning yourself with your cigarette and drooling out the side of your mouth while your eyes vacantly flutter open and shut or just sit there half open like a window shade thats pulled almost all the way down, looking at the TV and not watchin it or caring what goes on. Cuz you rather watch a movie 4 times in a row and still not know what happens. cuz it feels good to feel good and give up the rest of yourself to feel good.

It jus makes you numb to everything, cuz no matter what you know you can always return to that spot that makes you forget. Depressed that you stole from somebody you loved so you can get high? Do more dope. Sad that you aint makin shit outta yourself, goin to school like you said you would, takin your lil sister out like you were gonna, cuz you were feenin and your boy called and you HAD to go cop, Do more dope. Sad that you do dope? Do more dope.

Its like gettin high becomes the carrot on a stick thats always dangling in front of you, instead of your real goals for your life. you trade what you want to really do with yourself, for a guaranteed safe haven that will always be there, and look forward to that, instead of real things and accomplishments. Its the difference between taking risks and hiding from the world. youre makin the exchange ...You know you sacrifice so much but the lure of being in your own, cozy, safe, warm lil underwater world where nothing and no one can ever bother you, is too strong to turn down so you give into it, and let it take your hand and make everything OK for you. its like sellin your soul to the devil.

That's interesting. Opiates have actually had the opposite effect on me. They actually motivated me to do things, especially menial tasks that I normally dread doing while sober. And I'm not talking about just when I was dependent and needed them to function.

I guess that's why I always disliked nodding; I can't get anything done then. Good thing I rarely nod, regardless of how high a dose I take.

well i think the affect that it has and the way that it gets a hold on you, all goes back to the reason why you use in the first place my friend. To me nod=release.

Now that i think of it phrozen methadone has the effect on me that you were sayin. I get up...Wash dishes...clean, vaccuum, draw,......But OC n D man, no way I aint doin NOTHIN to kill my buzz. it seems fragile enough as it is but methadones like a big 500 pound dude bodycheckin you so its impossible to kill the high IMO. Youll always find me doin weird shit like moppin the floor when i do methadones.

For me, opiates make me sociable and chatty, which is so NOT like my usual quiet, withdrawn self. So, from that perspective, I would say that I have benefitted from them. Poppy pods make me relaxed and social, while the pharmaceuticals wind me up like a first-timer on yayo, it's really weird....I woud get so wound up, I could do 2-3 days of work in a singe day and go all night without sleep. I prefer the more gentle effect of the pods, as I do not like that speedy, strung-out feeling.

I made a post about the same thing recently. It's very true. I started with OC and hydrocodone and it made me really happy and sociable when I was just fucking around with it. Then my OC connection dried up right when I found a connection for methadone...only $5 for a 40mg wafer. So I got a lot of wafers and it began. I remember the first time I dosed on that stuff. It was a numbness so profound that I couldn't even feel my own emotions. I was just there, floating. That happened maybe the first 3 or 4 times. Then I noticed that I started getting really pissed off and moody on the stuff. Long story short, after a few months taking it almost every day, I turned into a very dark person. I was antisocial, had very serious suicidal thoughts about the best way to kill myself, had dreams about killing people, became verbally abusive to people that I care about and didn't care to even clean my apartment.

I stopped taking it 9 days ago, and I actually feel high from being OFF the shit. It took about 6 days for the reserve that had built up to leave my body. After that I got some withdrawal, but emotionally I feel like a million dollars. I feel like all of my positive emotions are exaggerated. I'm way happier than I was even before I started opiates. Or maybe I had just forgotten how happy I used to be. My relationship with my girlfriend had deteriorated RAPIDLY to the point where we almost called it quits a few times. It has instantly improved and things are much more how they were when we first started dating. The worst part is dealing with the things I did and said when I was all fucked up. I told her about what I had been hiding (she had no idea) and she feels relieved that it was largely due to the influence of methadone.

For me, I think methadone was a drug that almost quit itself. It became so dysphoric that I just hated taking it. I'm sure that I will never touch the shit again even though it's still available for so little money. I won't say that I wish I had never touched it though, because I'm glad that I learned from it.

hey malfunkshin read the post better douche. of course everyone feels more motivated hyper better etc when there HIGH on opiates. he was talking about after you do them for awhile how bad and dead you feel without them

I think this might mostly be for people in between addiction. Using once in a blue moon as a once off you never use for a long enough period of time that your brain gets used to finding all of its joys from opiates. For those completely addicted, they need the opiates to even BE ABLE to feel anything. (So they may not notice.)

A chipper who goes too far seem to end up in a state where his/her mind has begun to replace all of the daily events one finds pleasure in with the opiates.

I know it to work like this: The brain wakes up every morning looking for something to fill its "Void.". When it realizes that the act of taking opiates eliminates its need to find stimulus elsewhere it stops looking for other excitment.

This is also what i believe causes addiction. (Not saying i invented the idea, it's just what i think.) People get so used to filling their void with "x" (Playing video games, watching TV, drugs, etc.) That they don't ever hear that inner cry for a new activity.

The answer i find (Though its off-topic and most of you arent even reading anymore of my bullshit) Is to force ones self for at least a few hours a day to find something new to do. This will helpl prevent (or stop) your brain from being hard-wired from becoming/being hard-wired to find its kicks the easiest way it can.

Peace

^ umm Im still listening,

and agree wholeheartedly. Was going to say exactly that, except it would've been worded poorly.

Oh hell yea. thas true on many levels. Thats pretty much waht iw as sayin in my post in a more cynical way. how it fills you up so you dont need to seek fulfillment from other "real" things in life that truly make you happy and instead go for the quick solution. its like the differentce between making love in a loving, amazing, sweet, intimate, truely devoted relationship with somebody who is a angel to you, your soul mate, --and sex with a cheap hooker. you bust a nut just the same....but ones alot more empty.....

strange. opiates are the only things that actually give me back my motivation for life. for the things i used to be interested in. for having fun, doing things, making things, being active. i dunno what you guys are yakkin about, but opiates give me motivation. i WANT to live my live when i'm high on opiates

At first but I've never seen this last in anyone. Maybe if you had an unlimited supply of drugs and money you could keep this up but I don't know if even then it would last.
