Opiates and brain shivers?

Hi guys, SWIM has a problem...

SWIM has been taking qualitest generic percocet 5/325 for a long time. Sometimes 6-7 a day, and he would get high and feel great, then come down. Rinse repeat. SWIM then ran out of qualitest 5/325.

SWIM started taking hydrocodone 10/325, but something very weird happened that night. He couldn't sleep, as he got BRAIN SHIVERS. I don't know how to explain it- just that he felt like he would have a seizure or lose control, couldn't sleep and had electric zaps in his brain.

Swim then stopped hydrocodone and took MALLINKRODT 5/325. The same thing happened that night.

Swim then stopped opioid use for 2 weeks. Everything was fine. Swim them took another hydrocodone 10/325 and the same thing happened that night. Couldn't sleep, brain shivers all night.

What is going on? Anybody have any similar experiences??

Hi. Welcome to Bluelight and for future reference we all know that SWIM is you. It is useless to try and hide behind it. So just be yourself and we will welcome you as warmly!

I've never heard of brain zaps with opiates. I had brain zaps when I quit taking paxil years ago, bbut never with opiates.

Sorry I can't be more helpful but I am sure someone will post some helpful information. Again, welcome! !

I've heard of people getting the needles from hydrocodone but never heard of the brain zaps from hydro......are you taking any other meds besides the percs?

Percs mixed with hydro would never cause this IMO.

Everyone's brain/body chemistry is different so something definitely is going on here that is unusual.

Someone with some knowledge on what you're talking about will pop in. Or you could try googling your question.

Not taking any other meds. It's so weird. I took percocet 10/325 last night and the same shit happened at bedtime, except it was even worse. I couldn't sleep, just had a constant aura and brain shivers all night. Couldn't sleep.

Oh, and I went to the bathroom and had mild diarrhea. Were these oxy withdrawals? From 10mg?

If you've been taking percs for a long time as you stated, then if you're not taking the same amount every day, you could be having withdrawals......I just dont understand the brain shivers.

Hmm never heard of this with hydro or oxy, tramadol yes but not the others. Are your eyes tearing at all? Any restless legs arms? Sweats or cold? I'm thinking your used to 30-40mg of oxy so replacing with only 10-20mg of hydro won't cut it IMO. Hydro is much weaker than oxy so you'd need to take more of those than u would oxy to keep up on ur normal dose and avoid wd. Wd is the only thing that I can think if but idk, were all different and respond different to these meds

Yes this has happened to me with Norco while currently taking Zoloft and benzodiazapines all in very low doses. I am very sensitive to meds so the most I would take is 5/325. I did not experience it while taking Percocet until I stopped it only after two weeks. Horrible brain zaps and shivers and this was only one 5/325 or 2 a day very spread out. Fish oil helps!
