Opiates and Anxiety

For me Opiates help with anxiety. They help me the same way a Benzo would. I dont suffer from anxiety or anything like that or related to it but if im having a bad day or feeling anxious about something most opiates take away the worry and make me feel okay. Anyone else feel this way? You think its from the euphoria boost?

I don't suffer from much anxiety, but it desn't seem to much of a stretch to assume a euphoric cns depressant would help with it.

My anxiety levels have gone down seriously since I have been on opiates. Which is a really good thing. I think opiates help me beat panic disorder... I don't reccomend someone get on opiates for that puropse but it was a nice bonus!

Yes, opiates help with anxiety but aren't a solution. Just a temporary fix. If you keep taking opiates for anxiety you'll quickly get a tolerance and then go through withdrawals when you stop taking them and anxiety is a symptom of opiate withdrawal, just making it worse. But they do work for the time being.

Yeah, opiates absolutely MURDER anxiety. Heroin gave me the biggest "Don't give a flying fuck" attitude. But it comes at a price...

And remember, like the poster above mentioned, it's only a temporary solution. Once you come off your anxiety will be through the roof. It makes it so much worse in the end. I mean opiates kill anxiety SO much, you almost forget what it is. You are so "careless" that when you come off, the littlest thing will cause an avalanche and send everything tumbling down.

Benzo's relax me nicely, and help calm me a bit, but opiates/opioids have taken away any anxiety I might have had. I find the anxiety relief I get from opiates/opioids is rather different from the anxiety relief benzo's give me. Of course, they aren't neccesarily a good solution for anxiety for the obvious reasons (addiction).
