Have any of you every experienced this type of thing? If so, why does it occur and what is it?

It only happens to me when snorting more powerful opiates. Sometimes it is only in one ear an sometimes in both. If you can picture what you do when you "clear" your ears so to speak on an airplane....its like that only over and over and over really fast. It comes and goes and really happens most when plama levels are highest.

Feedback, replies appreciated. thanks.

I sometimes used to have and rarely now this annoying feeling of my inner ear itching and twitching on opiods, which was incredibly annoying but nothing like this, I'm curious as well.

well you are most likely getting some eustachian tube dysnfuction from the inflammation caused by the irritants you are snorting. Also might be from a minor allergic rhinitis reaction to the opiate/oid. I get the blocked ears and such, and something similar happened to me once. I remember I had snorted some oxycodone not that long ago (<1 hour) and all of a sudden my ear went crazy for almost a minute, twitching like a damn hummingbird. It stopped and didn't return, but it was weird. It might be the eustachian tube spazzing out on you, thats what I figure happened to me.

No I get the same thing!!!! I know exactly what you are talking about..... seems like constriction of muscles, similar to how they eyes tense up via reflex if they are irritated or if you are squintinv from the sun.. maybe has to do with pupil constriction due to muscles in the area being tense.

Yeah I get this quasi-frequently (not often per se, but enough that it no longer freaks me out wen it happens) it pretty much paralyzes you for the few seconds it happens its so intense and odd...no idea the cause, but it goes away uickly and usually only happens once or maybe twice. During an episode. Once I had it happen and it would reoccur after a few seconds like in waves and lasted a few minutes---that was unnerving. If it goes on for any extended period of time, I'd go to hospital asap

This used to happen to me all the time, way before I ever snorted opiates though. It felt like a muscle spasm like sometimes people get around the eye only it would be in my ear and drove me nuts. I even saw an ENT doctor who couldn't find anything wrong with my ears. :?
