Opiate Withdrawl

I just want to know what to I expect (I know most of the side effects I think...). I've been on an opiate (whether it be anything from fentanyl to heroin to vicodin es) in my body constantly everyday for 3 weeks. How long will this pain and shit (litterally) last. I have and take 2mg klonopin which I know will help, but i've been on klonopin for 2.5 years so it can only help so much. Any input is appretiated. Thanks.

whats your most used opiate and at what dose? i believe a half dose will lift any withdrawl effects, but may tempt you do do more. Opiates are the only drug that will remove the symptoms because it is the opiate receptors that are under agonized at the moment to say the least. Even Immodium or DXM will probably help. Anyhow try a small dose to combat the effects.

Most used: Heroin: 20 - 50 units of black tar...and Vicodin ES or Darvocet or Dilaudid 4mg nasally or Fentanyl 25 mcg/hr (12 day supply).

Thats a decent opioid intake - so yeah, it's not going to be fun ...

well,the WORST thing about quitting the OPIATES is the CRAVING youll have...the PHYSICALL effects definitely arent fun,but they only last up to 5 days TOPS...the craving will last for awhile after you quit taking good ole' OPIATES..i have several buddies who have taken opiates for years,and they say when they attempted to quit,they say after the WITHDRAWAL is gone,they still never feel right for another 2-3 months after taking..they say they are depressed,cant concentrate etc etc..
 
I read a post by this one patient at a pain management bulliten board. He had some chronic condition and was taking 10 4mg dilaudids every 5 hours. That seems like a huge amount but anyways, he decided to try and quit taking them for a while because he was so mentally clouded. So he quit cold turkey and like the next day he said he was in extreme pain from withdrawl as well as his condition and had diarrhea, it sounded like one of the worst withdrawls ever. And the bad thing is that he wanted to quit them and didn't have a craving for them. But that is one hell of a tolerance though.
 
i've been on Vicodines for three weeks for real pain. is it really gonna be that much of a pain in the ass to get off of it? every time i dose, i take 2 pills, and that's starting to get week. but i do want off. any help will be appreciated.
 
You shouldn't have too much of a problem with just Vicodin as it's a pretty weak opiate. You'll have withdrawal but you won't be burning up shitting your intestines out into a toilet.

In my experience, the physical withdrawal is what gives me the most misery... at this point in my life, i'm pretty content... BUT when i got about 12 hours without opiates, It starts with the cold clammy feeling, and gets worse from there... It all depends on what kind of high you get, i suppose... if you're getting a sort of 'anti-depressant' effect from your use.. I'm assuming that you'll be in for one hell of a mental withdrawal.. but if opiate bliss is a way to enhance life, the physical aspect is the only thing you'll have to worry about
 
I don't think this cat it much like mike or I .. he said he had legit pain and was only taking them two at a time... I am up to over 200mg Oxycodone per day; and my withdrawal could be chalked up to "a few days if nastyness", factor in the benzos (I am sometimes lucky enough to time my drug usage so I have a fair amount of Klonopin as I am comming off the opioids) and withdrawal becomes "a couple days of good bed rest" .. back on my feet in about 72 hours .. of course, using opioids as anti-depressants has that side effect of your depression returning when you stop taking them...
While on the subject - score another one for the good guys (this wasnt recent) - a retired doctor in Miami, FL entered drug rehab after he ended his carreer at 67 years old, he had been an admitted morphine addict for the better part of his 34 year practice, and now that he no longer had prescribing rights, he couldnt get the morphine he had come to depend upon... he attributed his very successfull carreer upon taking morphine caps several times each day.. an old styory but one that highly motivates me!
