I used 4 days in a row 80-120mg of er Oxycontin thinking it would be a regular binge for me using methadone (one use a day for 4 days). Turned out it worked out to be more like using 12 uses in a row because it was releasing about 20-30mg every 4 hours. i stopped withdrawing about day 8. I'm wondering how long after withdrawals can i use again without starting up withdrawals? I'll be keeping my binges to only 2 doses every week.

... I'm confused. You used 4 days in a row, and had WD's for 8 days? Or you had WD for 4 days after using 4 days, so 8 days total?

Once you're completely over the acute phase from you're *first* run with dependence, you can technically use again, but is it really worth it if a single binge produced WD symptoms?

I used 4 days in a row, had 5 days of bad withdrawals, 3 of lesser withdrawals. Its been a bit over 1 week since ive been over withdrawals. So i should be fine?

^ I could see 80-120mg oxy requiring 8 days to completely detox.

If you've been opiate dependent in the past and you used 80-120mg oxy for four days straight then wd is hardly surprising.

And yeah, if you're completely symptom free then logic dictates that you will not extend or enhance symptoms that you don't have. But sometimes wd symptoms can be very subtle towards the end because you convince yourself you are through but in the back of your mind you know you still feel a bit cold, maybe some sniffles left, things still seem to smell strong and your stomach still isn't quite right yet.

Also, if you've just gotten through wd, chances are using even just two days in a row at high enough doses can put you right back to square 1.

So what's so different about this time? (<-- serious q).

It was completely accidental. I usually use methadone with 4 day binges and never got sick after about a year of doing that. I thought using oxy ER for 4 days in a row would be just like the 4 days of methadone but found that its more like using 13ish days of methadone use(my best guess), because of the oxy releasing about 20-30mg every 4 hours.

Well if you're taking mthadone for four days straight and then a few days off and then again four days straight, not getting wd is hardly surprising considering the massive half-life of methadone, which can be as high as 65 hours. Compare this with oxycodone, which has a half-life of 2-4 hours.

This is the real factor you need to consider as opposed to how the time release of oxycodone works.

The only real comparison between the two imo is that they are both opioids and it ends there.

Even with the time release, methadone lasts far longer than oxy.

No, it seems you flew too close to the sun, and got burned. A 4 day binge of methadone takes a full week to recover from. 4 days is enough to stack it in you're system, so it takes a few days to fully clear it.

So you see, you've slowly gotten your body dependent to opioids over time, and it finally got to you.

Be careful man; numbs right, 2 days of high doses is enough to restart a physical dependence, especially this soon.
I would give it more time man, this is a dangerous cycle.

are you saying after going through withdrawals once its easier to go back(in the same amount i wasnt getting sick from)?

Yes, once you've been physically dependent, it is easier to become dependent again. Each time you become dependent, and the longer you're dependent, and the higher your tolerance, it can become almost automatic, I mean a gram of good dope, and the monkey is back. You feel me?

Just be careful.

Thanks. It really sucks because its the only time i feel like myself.

Yeah, that is how I felt... So years ago I decided to never quit. Terrible decision? Probably, but I'm not sure it could of been any other way.

Just reading through this thread yeah you are playing with fire.

I've been on and off for the better part of, Christ 15 years now...

And I never learn this lesson till I'm sick again. You will never achieve controlled usage once you get dependent.

I've been putting time off the shit pretty well on and off over the past few years. Had some successful kicks without rehab and without it getting too bad but god damn...

I did some dope only about 5 times in a week and a half... One shot here then 2 days later another one... A quarter g one day and bam... Had to sweat out a day or two sick. Nothing bad happened, didn't spend all my money, I just don't need it.

It's so fucking stupid.

But that's just my experience, OP if you want to test it go ahead and run the gauntlet. I don't blame ya
