OPIATE TOLERANCE

Well, pleasant surprise this weekend. I was able to get a very nice high from 40mgs of hydrocodone.
For me, opate tolerance built very quickly. In about 4 months I went from needing 20 mg of oxycodone to get high to needing 80 mgs for the same effect. The last few times I used 2 80mg doses about 3 hours apart. This was using around three times per week.
As I am just beginning to experiment with opiates I was shocked that the necessary dose would increase so quickly. Of course, part of the problem was my need to constantly push the edge and take as much as I felt I could handle safely. This "pushing" of the dose I feel was my error in underestimating how quickly the tolerance would build.
I decided to take off 4-6 weeks and start over to see if my tolerance would dissipate and wether I could ever get back to a base dose of 20 mgs.
This weekend has been 3 weeks since my last use of oxycodone. As chance would have it, I had the opportunity to use 40mgs hydrocodone and found that I got an extremely good high off of it!
So, it seems my tolerance level lowered back to normal (for me) fairly quickly. This time around I am going to adjust the dosage only as needed to feel the effect I want and cut back to 2 or even 1 day weekly to control the build up of tolerance.
I experienced no withdrawl upon quitting other than missing being high but I knew that taking the time off to lower my tolerance would be worth the wait.
These are my experiences and YMMV!

Whats your point Syd? He is posting data on his own personal experience, this thread may be useful to many people that utilize the search function in the future.

I don't know if your experienced with hydro or not but just so you know you can't really compare an oxy dose to a hydro dose mg to mg. Hydro is actually a bit more potent than oxycodone and they don't work in the same exact manner. I think you should judge your opiate tolerance on the same substance instead of comparing oxy tolerance to hydro tolerance.

My bad in that case, I thought policy was not to post something unless it had a question of some sort. At least thats what I have seen a few times, guess I read wrong or something.

Well syd, we don't really want *trip report* type things here. But anyone that wants to contribute information about their personal findings, is more than welcome to.

You may know this already, but what many people here have found is that opiate tolerance seems to develop much quicker with higher-intensity doses. Eg shooting a bag of heroin once weekly is going to up your tolerance faster than shooting half a bag for two days a week. And IV use in general seems to boost tolerance faster than equally potent oral/nasal use.

Hydrocodone is actually LESS potent then oxycodone.
I am using the comparsion to judge my opiate tolerance because I have used both quite a bit this last year I have a good feel for how I react on each seperatly.
For me, I find 40mg hydrocodone to be equivilant to about 20-30mgs oxycodone.

This is what I learned! :)

If by potency you mean which one will "fuck you up" more than oxycodone wins in that department but I'm pretty sure that hydrocodone is active at lower doses than oxycodone. Anyone care to back me up on this, or prove me wrong.

According to the medical community, in terms of pain relief, hydrocodone and oxycodone are equally potent, or oxycodone is up to 50% stronger, depending on who you ask. Personally I find oxycodone to give significantly more of a high than the same dose of hydrocodone.
Of course they're close enough that there is probably individual variance.. some people may actually find hydro stronger, though this ain't the norm. So everyone is right! :)

By Active I meant Threshold dose. I swear I read before that hydro is somehow more potent than oxy yet oxy is more fun to do. As always I could be wrong :)
