I am about halfway through an opiate taper. I guess the same principles apply to all opis, but my particular taper this time round is from Poppy Pod tea. Im currently taking 18g in the morning, 9g @ lunchtime and another 18g in the evening + reusing the whole days pods.

I have been advised that during a taper you will have to move down from 3 doses to 2, then finally 1 per day, but sticking to the same total daily dosage until you stabilise on that. So I've decided to cut out the lunchtime dose first.

I was just wondering if anyone here's tried anything simillar, how did they do it ? Halve the dose, and add half each to the morning and evening doses, or add the whole dose to either the morning or evening dose ?

Not really sure what would work best.....

All replies appreciated.

When I taper down from hydrocodone I take a full dose in the morning because that's when I hurt worst. Then the rest of the day I take 1/2 of my normal dose. I took it 4 times a day. I did this for a week. I was was successful.

The next week I did 1/2 doses 4 times a day. I stayed with this for a long time. It worked very well till my pain became worst.

I haven't stopped totally. I use my medication for pain relief.

I would suggest if you wanted to stop taking it to cut your doses in 1/2 till your down to nothing.

Just make sure your comfterble. I hope this helps.

Sorry i have never tapered anything before really, only CTs, so i cant help with that. i'm just wondering though, how long does poppy tea last? like, is it fast and explosive like oxy or long and heavy like morphine?
