Opiate taper/cold turkey need some input please

I am in south london doing a detox. I know nobody so getting tablets is out of the question. The lyrica i was using sporadically ran out. I went from 90mls methadone and .5g heroin/day to 30mls methadone in 3 weeks, as well as 50mg valium/day to 20mg.

I am staying on the valium for the time being. When I return to Ireland I will go to a rehab for 1 month to 3 months. I really want to be opiate free. i went without methadone for 48 hours, then 12mg subutex for two days, 8mg for two days, and today is the first of 4mg subutex. It will be 4, 2, 2, 1, 1, 0.4, finish. I leave for Ireland on Sunday the 18th.

The subutex isnt really holding me. I am feeling roughly 50% of the WDs if not more. Should i cold turkey it from here?? I have 6 days to start feeling better before heading home. My thinking is that if I continue with this aggressive sub taper i will be hit with heavy WDs when I leave here. Am i better to get the worst? of it over while i have a comfy detox environment? i get 10mg olanzapine at night here too.

I cant leave. my aunt payed for this fancy detox i dont want to let her down. also she has my passport lol.

i would really appreciate the advice and opininions. the staff here are good but dont understand why i am feeling so crappy. i have come off the largest habit ive had in quite a short amount of time.
 
Sounds to me like that will be the methadone w/d causing the problem. Although that is a pretty hardcore tapering schedule even just for the heroin to be honest. As inpatient detox I'm guessing you have little or no say in what you are given to deal with w/d anyway so I'm not sure what anybody can really advise other than just try to ride it out as best you can. It really will get easier but unfortunately methadone w/d tend to drag on for weeks - albeit not as intensely as heroin w/d.

There's some good general advice in Opiates - Withdrawal Coping Strategies & Medication but not sure how much of it will be very useful in an inpatient environment.

Thanks guys. I can ask for lyrica. id need to pay for the script. they do already have gabapentin here. I would have to be written up for it by the doc. my thinking was that if i looked as bad as i felt id be more likely to get that particular chemical crutch. i got one 300mg gabapentin during my 48 hours off methdone. 300mg lyrica is ok for me, how much is that in gabapentin? like 900mg???
 
300mg of Lyrica is about 800-900mg of gabapentin, yeah. Good luck, man. :)
 
cheers folks. think i will stick with the taper, its rough enough as is. not quite total despair but roll around the floor for part of the day badness going on.

ill get some lyrica and zopiclone when i get back to Dublin. I think i will be in a 3 month rehab. The 4 week St John of Gods wouldnt take me because i have a history of past heroin use. ridiculous.
 
I will leave here with at least 150mg cyclizine, possibly more 200-300mg. I will not use for three months but someday if I think I can handle it I really want to try the H/100mg cyclizine combination and the same combo with coke in the mix and maybe even a dalmane thrown in for good measure.

100mg cyclizine provided a rush shot up alone after drinking juice before I threw away my old works and blunt as fuck needle. The problem is cyclizine hcl is not water soluble (1mg/ml)so you need to shake them in the barrel with hot water, you are basically shooting a suspension and need a large vein and is very unhealthy.
The lactate salt is soluble in water at least 50mg/ml. I wonder if the citrate would be soluble as well. Wash tablets with cold water, cook up residual powder with citric acid or mix it into your gear shot with a little extra citric added for solubility. Citric acid is much easier to get than lactic acid.
 
Sounds to me like your being set up to fail on that sort of regime - fuck when i was in traetment i was there for 13 weeks with a slow detox. You will have to be very strong willed not to cave when you get out of here - gl mate.
 
Sounds like you're being put through the ringer where the only winner is whomever is getting paid $$
 
For me the only way to detox virtually pain free is to be on a short h/l opiate e.g. heroin and not taking any 'done then jump to methadone at say 70-80mg (what ever holds you depending on your habit but bear in mind I've done this on an 1/8th a day habit and still started on 80mg)you can then do a 2 week detox with some sleepers or blues at the end for a few days.

What fucks people up is taking a script and H on top but if your on supervised then your stuffed as you can't 'take it or leave it'.

BTW if you got the dosh Promis in kent is fucking ace like a country house hotel (cheers dad) - still relapsed a week after leaving tho as could never buy in to the higher power shit of the 12 steps..and I od'd form doing 1/2 a bag : (
