I have been taking 8 Cocodamol (12mg-500mg) or (30mg-500mg)[as I don't have a prescription for it yet, the source can be unknown] + 8 Ibuprofen (300mg) per day to treat chronic left knee pain.
This is the only dosage of easily available pharmaceuticals that is actually helping to completely null the pain.
My working hours are not conducive to doctors surgery hours, so the injury itself is not being treated, yet. (It is almost certainly a sports injury, torn PCL or ACL, causing arthritis)
When I do finally get to a GP, I know they will only prescribe me the 30mg of codeine and to continue with the rest of my analgesia, because it already works to reduce the pain, while placing me on a very long waiting list for knee surgery.
My immediate concerns in my current self treatment are; paracetamol is incredibly damaging to the liver, ibuprofen is incredibly damaging to the stomach. I already have IBS, and I'm not exactly an angel when it comes to alcohol.
It seems to me the only real factor in my regimen is codeine, that's the thing that is working, the other 2 drugs are just potentiators.
I have been doing this for about 4 months now, every day.
Enough with background, on to the point of the title!
While everything else is better, the entire world is better, IBS isn't even an issue, but I am now finding that I am never hungry, even if I am drinking alcohol. I'm still thirsty and still drink sugared carbonated soft drinks, but for the past 2 or 3 weeks, these have been my only significant sources of calories, everything else has stayed the same. I realise that I need to eat food, more than I ever want food. It has just stopped being interesting.
Put it this way, I'm male, 29, 6ft2, 188lbs, 'work strong' but not buff or toned, I've never stuck to 'conventional' meal times since I was 13, I eat when I'm hungry, and as far as I'm concerned, I've always lived that way.
And now I am never hungry, I also have started to smoke a lot more than I used to.
No human being can subsist on sugar water and cigarettes alone.
Is it the codeine that is doing this to me? The only thing that seems to be fixing the pain?
