Without going into details about what the products were should one be worried about such interference with a letter?
The letter was sliced open at one end and the correctly labeled bags that were taped to MSDS sheets were removed and replaced, then the whole thing taped back up, and the big green inspection sticker attached. Nothing was seized. 8(
Thanks

It's pretty hard to tell you if you should be worried without knowing the contents of the package.

You should be grateful they didnt seize it.

Assuming you arent importing heroin then the customs officer was probably in a generous mood. Or something.

I've seen it multiple times. If nothing was seized you should have no problems, they just do checks randomly and on suspect items :)

Yeh I've had this buying 5htp and piracetam from overseas. Perhaps if the contents *did* warrant seizing but got let through anyway you shouldn't test your luck again in future though?

My guess is that you were lucky and the person that opened it didn't realise what it was. Or as someone else said was feeling generous.
Was it a small amount?

My understanding is that your items are seized and you get a warning if it is contraband and a personal amount if its a first time.

If they were worried you would have had a knock on your door.

Whether or not you do it again is up to you. Your luck may be over.

If its a small amount of something I really cant see them letting through to watch for future operations. Like 60 valium for example. Ive ordered small amounts like that before and once it got through and a couple other times I got seizure letters. I have heard of people ordering xanax and receiving the order with a customs inspection sticker on the package.

Personally I decided to stop ordering. I found I was getting way too anxious and paranoid waiting for the package. Doing the letterbox shuffle everyday constantly thinking I had gone one too many and basically it wasnt worth the stress.

I really dont think they give a shit about people ordering online an amount that is clearly for personal use for a 3 month or less period. But if they find it they usually at least seize it and send you the warning letter. Maybe some customs officers are just cool and if their supervisor isnt watching over their shoulder they let shit through. Pretty risky as far as your job goes though.

I'm guessing that most customs would pretty much what they would be opening a letter for is to see whether it and the description is consistent as the product being posted, and only really investigate that information if what they let through was a dangerous or excessive amount of a banned good.

I've ordered a few things from overseas in the past, mainly dieting supplements and have had a seizure letter for Clenbuterol and other custom checks for banned bodybuilding supps go through eventuating in nothing, mind you there only minor orders. Thankfully with seized Clen, under the TGA and as mentioned ^ under 3 months supply of certain goods are a first and final warning! lol. Not using same name/address on overseas orders of anything anymore =p

Actually sorry on second thought this thread really isn't the kind of thing we want discussed here in AusDD. We're not here to help you circumvent customs or break the law. PM me or another mod if you disagree.
