Hello everyone. Long time lurker, first time poster.

I have been on opana between (100-60)mg for the past 8 months and loratab 10's or about 5 months before that.

Do make a long story short I have to wait 30 days untill I can go back to my PM dr and get my perscriptions.
He gave me info today for suboxen detox to help me get through this. Well it takes 3 weeks to ger a appointment.

I can go to the methadone clinic on tues if i choose too.

i dont know what to do. The withdrawl symptomsare more than I can handle. I did start abusing the opana and things just got out of control.

I have a prescription for clonadine and klodopin but they do not help with the symptoms.
I have 3 choices the way i see it.
1. Cold turkey
2. Try to buy some pills and make it till tues and goto the methadone clinic.
3. Keep buying pills for 3 weeks untill the suboxen treatment starts(which would be hard and expensive)

I start getting withdrawl symptoms 6 hours after taking an opana.
Now i am out of opana and have about 10 nucynta(sp) that i have been using to keep the withdrawl symptoms down. I do not want to be on pain meds anymore i just cant handle being so sick.

I have partied like a rock star for 15 years...im 33 now but this is the worst situation i have ever been in

any advice?

nice to meet everyone and i hope this post is in the right place.
I searched the forums and saw withdrawls scattered everywhere.

If you toughed it out til tuesday you could make it through the worst of the withdrawal symptoms. Your withdrawal will be pretty bad, no lie, but you can handle it; I mean, it won't kill you, and personally I think cold turkey is easier than tapering and the lesson sticks with you better than using suboxone or methadone. But everyone is different.

I'd say try to make it til Tuesday with no painkillers. If its absolutely unbearable on Tuesday still, then you may as well go to the clinic and ride out MMT until your next appointment, but think about it this way, your habit will only keep getting worse the longer you do this.

You can use the search engine to find more tips on how to best manage the withdrawals. Good luck.

you should probably move this to TDS
anyways from what i can tel if this is your first real time kicking im not talking about a day or two i mean if this is the first time you're really trying to quit.I dont think you're w/d will last long i mean at most a week and if you know about PAWS u shouldnt get it to bad either a year and some change of using is not that long i would suggest either go CT or if u can get some done or subs 2 ease the w/d for a couple days or a week the klonopin and clonodiene u hav are great meds for w/d also good luck buddy

You may find a quick Methadone taper (21 day) to be very helpful, combined with symptom management medication at the end. The purpose of using long half-life opioids in a quick taper to get off of short acting opioids is to maximize your comfort level, it will soften the landing so to speak. You may find that Clonidine and Benzodiazepines work much better after this as well.

Why would your doctor make you go 30 days through WD without your opiate meds? Thats wrong, no doctor should do that.

I am guessing he admitted to abusing his meds, once you admit you are an addict to them, they are going against their oath to prescribe them again. I believe no doctor is allowed to prescribe opioids at all to treat opioid addiction, they have to pass/refer to a bupe or methadone doctor, unless of course they are qualified themselves. They definitely arn't allowed to go prescribe opana or oxy to someone who just admitted to addiction, and went through a whole months script in a matter of days.

Im guessing the OP "lost" his pills but in turn "found" some money where he left them, or simply owed them out from borrowing.

None the less, Im sorry you got knocked off your meds, that sucks. May i ask how your doctor caught you?

Its too bad you couldn't be one of the lucky ones, their doctors will wean them off the drug even after they admit addiction or get caught abusing. Some docors have a big heart, but its also kinda a slap in the face when they throw their trust out there, and get duped. Doctors tend to take it personal when they get played for a fool.:!

You also dont realize how many people would kill for a bottle of clonidine and clonazepam when experiencing the heebi jeebie's.:\

go to jail. that's what i just did and it worked great for the withdrawal!

jokes, but seriously... you have clonidine, nucynta AND k-pins? i mean, unless you hit the streets to score (wink) that's as good as it could ever get for most people. those are pretty routine withdrawal meds (aside from nucynta). clonidine and a weak benzo are what i got when i used meds to detox awhile back.

as far as methadone or suboxone... that's on you. but i'll tell you this: when i find out about people who use subs just to get by until their next fix i rage. so do a lot of people. also, if you think it's bad now just WAIT for methadone withdrawal (if you choose that option).

buck up, buddy

Yeah, what you've got is about all one could hope for in regards to coping with W/D. Perhaps you haven't taken enough Klonopin. I don't know anything about Nucynta, as Tapentadol is very new. However, I do know it is supposed to be like a more potent version of Tramadol, so it should be helpful to you in your situation if you use it appropriately. Take as little of the Nucynta as possible, so as to make it last. The worst of it should be over in a few days.

I thought that stuff got CII right out the gate?

I say you go cold turkey. You're going to have the most pleasant withdrawal you can possible have. The ride has gotta end sometime. :(

I wish you the best!

I would say replacement therapy is your last option, if you can tough out w/d's and stay clean, props to you man. It's gonna be tough, I was clean for 3-months on my own once, but don't get back on. It gets harder to get off every time.

Thank you everyone/update

I want to say thank you to all who replied and gave me there input.
First tpo answer someones question about why my PM Dr stopped giving me my scripts..... This is the most fkd up thing ever... First i did fail the entry test for pot... i did not know they would test. i was a noob. The dr didnt make a big deal out of it so i kept smoking.
I have a hard time sleeping and pot knocks me out. I can make an 1/8th last over a month. So months later the dr told me he was going to test me and i honestly told him i will fail for pot but it is the only thing that lets me get a good night sleep. After 15 years of smoking i actually quit after that so i would not fail another test. Was clean from it for 5 months.... now the fkd up part...
My other dr is just a GP...not a actual Dr. I went to see a real Dr named David Cummings to get blood work done ect.. I had a ton of my meds that i brought with me. He was completely against me taking opana and told me to take 1 ER every other day and come back and see him in 1 month. He also gave me a script for adavan for WD that i never used......
Well i didnt agree with his advice and i called his office fter i left and told them dont bother running the blood test and i will not be coming back. Well this SOB called my PM Dr and told him i tried to get my meds refiilled...(which is totally untrue). i never even mentioned that!!!
My PM dr told me this and i told him thaat was completely untrue. He said why would that Dr lie and he had to take it at face value... Strike 3. He would not fill my scripts nad referred me to there substance abuse place for an evaluation. I do have another appt with my PM dr in 25 days...
Well to say the least i was PISSED at this Cummings Dr so i called his office. They would not let me speak to him so i told his receptionist to tell the Dr that i am going to consult a lawyer and the Medical review board ect and left my phone # for the Dr to call. Well this Dr called and cussed me out and threatned to come kick my "little ass". He cussed for 30 seconds straight, i could not get a word in then he hung up. I called back the # he called from and it just went to a answering machine. I only wish i recoreded the call but i was caught totally off guard.
Well i was so angry at this point i called 911 and filed a complaint about this
Dr threatning my life and cussing me out. Unbelieveable right..
Well the detective called me back and told me i could come and fill out paper work and it would be a misdameanour charge against the Dr. But how can i go up against a Dr in a court of law? He has all the $ and I am just a PM patient and it would be my word against his and he could probally counter sue me for slander. I still dont know what to do about that but HE is the reason i got kicked out.... Any advice about that would be great.. I still cant believe it happened. Only to me, i have the weirdest luck ssometimes.

As for the WD. I made it a day and a 1/2 and have never felt so bad in my life. Once i started throwing up i gave up and made the call and got 30 roxie 15's to get me by till tues. I feel like a wimp for not being able to take it but i did abuse the opana and would buy oc's or roxies to get buy when i ran out before my refill date. I let things get out of control big time. I am just being honest with everyone. No reason to lie here. I have never had any pain killers before the loratabs then the opans would take my pain away and make me feel so good. I messed up big time. I realize that. I have never been addicated to any drug before these opana's.

Now i want to get my life back. I am tired of worring about running out of pills ect so i have an appt at the methadone clininc tues morning.
I have done research and know that done withdrawl is worse than opiates but if i only take the dones for a week or 2 would that not bypass the opiate withdrawl and i could just stop everything?

All i can say is opana is some strng stuff and comingf off it cold turkey was more than i could handle. Plus i was caught completely off guard and did not have the mind set of coming off opiates like that. I wamnt ready. MY PM Dr was starting to taper down my dosage the way it should be done untill the other DR got spiteful bc i refused his service and flat out lied.

What do you all think about all that. I am stil so angry and that DR but what can i do?

This forum is great. Thanks again everyone for any advice. It is all appreciated greatly.

Ive been on methadone for about a year. I'm tapering now, but itll be another 6 months, at least, until I'm clean.

I have to go in twice a week for urine tests, and I have trouble peeing knowing someone is watching me (they have one of those mirrors where they can see in but I can't see out). At first I had to go in every single day. Now I get a week's worth at a time, but I lose that ability if I do ANY recreational drug except weed. It took 6-7 months to get a weeks worth of carries (they give you 1 additional day for every month of good behavior).

In short, it's been a major inconvenience. I haven't been able to travel as much as I'd have liked, and I have to hide it from my family (harder than hiding the habit, since I have to go there frequently). And when I think that I could have avoided it all with a week of withdrawals (I was abusing oxycontin), I wish I had had the balls to just friggin do it.

I'd avoid meth/suboxone if I were you. It is a godsend for people that have a really hard time quitting, but it shouldn't be your FIRST resort, like it was mine. Try and handle the withdrawals. You'll be over the hump by tuesday anyway. Klonopin and Clonidine will help, to an extent.

Wow man i feel bad your situation thats right fucked up.
Unfortunately i dont think i can be of any help but idk maybe go through with filing a complaint and everything and let your pm docter know your serious and not lying. Either way that doctor is fucked up. I wouldnt back out of filing a compliant and everything just because you think you wont win, dont worry about that, what matters is hes lying your not.

Thanks

Thanks bud.

I would even take a polygraph test to prove he is lying but they dont count in court and i am sure he would not agree to one.

I have a huge Annular Disk Tear L5 S1. Surgery not recommended. 50 % chance it would help with pain. I went through 3 months of Physical Therapy. The Opana helped lower my back pain rangin from 6-9 without meds to a 2-4 while taking the opana. The drug really helped. I just let it get away the past 3 months. I now realize how important it is to take exactly as perscribed and use my TENS unit or HEAT or anything else instead of taking a pill before scheduled. Lesson learned to late.

So minus the WD's which i tok away with the roxie's, my back pain is around a 8 right now. I was going to the gym daily and working out but can hardly get off the couch or bed bc of the pain.

It is my fault bc 2 of the offenses were from smoking buda but I still feel like a got completely screwed.

Once i get through this i may just live with the pain in a med free way bc I had no clue what WD's were really like. Again.. Lesson learned to late.

But the DR Cummings makes me so angry every time I think about it.

I think so, but I have only heard of the drug in this forum, and know what I do about it from Wikipedia.

Aruga- I'm sorry to hear about your stressful circumstance. If all that you say is true, then definitely don't just give up and let an asshole doctor get away with unethical, not to mention childish behavior. I wouldn't know exactly where to start or what to do, but such actions should not go unchecked. Best of luck to you.

Thanks for this advice. Knowing myself I think this plan may be best for me.

How hard would it be to stop methadone use after 21 days?

Thanks so much for the advice

Also as for as this crazy DR. Does anyone know the best way to file a complaint?

And if i were to fill out the paper work and get a misdemeanor warrent for his arrest could he sue me for slander?

I know this is not a legal forum but there are a lot of great members here so i was hoping some body may know the best way to handle this.

I feel if i dont do something then i will look guilty with my PM Dr. When i see himn again i am not going to get any prescriptions but i dont want to have him thinking I am a liar because
I may need him again later in life.

I dont know what to do or the best way to handle this.

any tips/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks again everyone

Due to the long half-life of Methadone, and its high volume of distribution, it will take 36-48+ hours after your last dose before you start to feel withdrawal symptoms start, and they will start slow, peak slow and less intense, and will go away within the normal time frame of a short acting opioid (meaning the brief Methadone taper won't substantially interfere with how long your period of acute withdrawal will be).

Call your local Methadone clinics and ask about their 3 week/21 day detox taper, when you can come in, how much it will cost, etc. Most likely you'd be given a starting dose that is just enough to hold you (probably 30mg-40mg) then that will be slowly reduced over the 21 days.

Afterward you should try and get new scripts for Clonidine, Diazepam/a benzo, possibly other medications (for specific symptoms that bother you, like RLS, insomnia, etc).

I have been taking opanas for over 2 years now. Lots of surgeries, bolts, plates, broken bones, I have mistreated my body for sure. Have tried everything in the book, nothing works like opana

I don't understand the withdrawal symptoms some people have. I have quit cold turkey for weeks and weeks, and never had any symptoms. NONE.

I can take 200 mg of amytryptaline and still can't sleep. Can take 90mg opana and still hurt like hell. I guess my body just has a tolerance to EVERYTHING.

I was taking 10 hydrocodones a day for years. Quit cold turkey for over 2 years, not even 1 of anything. That was harder than the opana.

The opana is simply the very best for pain.

I guess everyone is just a little different.

Hello, first of all I am so sorry to hear about all of your troubles. There are so many amazing people in the medical profession, so it really sucks when you hear stories like this. That doctor cummings acted like a scared immature little boy. I had a friend who had a big problem with one of her doctors and I remember that she had gotten some advice from a lawyer friend of the family. This was about 10 years ago, but I will try and tell you as much as I remember. There is a special place where you go to file complaints about doctors; it is similar to the BBB, but it is for doctors. By doing this you will at least create a paper trail for this dr. and your complaint will become a part of his permanent record. I do not remember the name of this BBB-type agency, but some easy quick research on the Internet should give you some answers.
There are also online sites where patients can rate doctors, such as healthgrades.com. Maybe there is more information on another site that will tell you the best way to make a professional complaint. Or maybe you can find someone on this site who is a lawyer. It sounds like you were mistreated and it is definitely worth looking into doing something about it. Good luck with everything!! :)
