Hello
I was recently switched from Oxycontin 20mg TID to Opana ER 20mg BID and I feel like I am having slight withdraw symtomps and zero effect on my chronic pain, could this be possible or is this all in my head? Thanks for your responses.

You went from 60mg of oxy a day to the equivalent of 80mg oxy a day (orally, oxymorphone is twice as potent as oxycodone even accounting for the oral BA) so I'm thinking its in your head.

--->BDD

It's all in your head. You might also have a psychological addiction to OC. Opana is great for Chronic Pain.

Maybe not. When I was taking OC 80mg, BID, my doc. wanted to try me on Opana. So the dose he chose was Opana 60mg BID, not the expected 40mg.

He reasoned that the oral BA was just not that high and in his experience Opana just wasn't twice as strong as OC, at least orally.

That being said, I would think it would at least prevent WDs. Believe I would get back in to see the doc.

Best

I have actually seen a few posters on here (chronic pain patients and recreational users alike) complain that Opana had little or no effect on them or their pain. At first I was skeptical, since the stuff does a wonderful job of knocking me into a drooling mess. But now I wonder if there isn't something else going on here. Everyone's body chemistry is different: could it be that some people just don't uptake oxymorphone as efficiently as others?

^perhaps, but I think BL skews the issue. How many here see the low oral BA numbers and shit like that and it affects their view of it? Talking with my former physicians and being connected into the US CP community, I haven't see these complaints replicated elsewhere.

i noticed a drop in pain relief when i was switched. I think it varies from person to person but for example if i was taking 20MG of Oxy i needed 10-15MG of oral opana..... just my experience.

Opana is great

I love opana. I'm a rec user and don't do it enough to where I've gotten addicted so I don't have an obscene tolerece but I can IV 60 mg of Oxy and be good to go. :) Opiates have always jacked me up and opana is no different. I had my first experience with opana this morning half of a 20mg ER I chrushed it and snorted 8 little lines and I FEEL GREAT. I've been weeding the garden, cleaning house and sweating bullets..lol

swim got a script today from 4 roxi 30s per day to 2 oxymorphone 15s plus 1 oxycodone 30 mg per day,,perceived before they got to the farm that they had to get the actavis generic 15 but little did they know they got original 8 sided opana good ones white... weren't these all gone way long ago????

We don't use SWIM here, I recommend looking through the Opana Megathread. AFAIK, there are still some of the original Opanas around still, but I can't confirm that...
