OPANA AKA:Oxymorphone

Lol!

Yeah right... search Oxycodone, Hydromorphone, Fentanyl...
Here in the US you can only get 2, 4, and 8mg Dilaudid and that is it...
I hear the 8mg are being discontinued... not to sure.

In Canada you can get 30mg HydromorphContin... break it open and you have 30mg of Hydromorphone.

Yea I've seen the HydromorphContin's before. They are gel caps with little beads in them you have to crush very carefully so they don't fly everywhere. I never really enjoyed these pills to much as I don't IV and sniffing hydromorphone never really appealed to me as much as the oxy high does.

Opana

As a member of the medical field, I have experienced a first-hand relationship with opiate addicts. Let me start by saying that opana is for long term use - if you use opana for enjoyment/short term, you will face withdrawals. If I was to give you advice, stay away from opiates if possible, but since this isn't always possible, I would either make sure that you can be a long term opana user, or switch to a PRN basis med.

Yeah, withdrawing from Opana will suck!

I have been on the Opana for long time....my doc precribes them like they are water....but I don't want to be on them...I want off of them and the withdrawals are killing me....How long does this withdrawal crap last????? He won't take me off of them....I have plenty I just want the heck off of them. Please help Anyone

The withdrawls will last between 3-7 days after your last dose, assuming of course you do not take ANY opiates for those 3-7 days.

Have you talked to him about trying a weaker opiate/oid? Your doc feels you need painpills for a reason, but should not object to trying something not quite as strong. The weaker the opi the less the withdrawls. Perhaps something with a longer halflife so you don't wake up in wd and could go 24 hours or longer before wd starts. Methadone certainly comes to mind.

Thank you smokey what does methadone do??? I have been on a few differnt pain meds, but my doc is only interested in raising the dose.....I think it is weird usually I thought they wanted you off the drugs as soon as possible....but he just seems to like giving them to me. LOL

no problem. methadone, well it isn't as strong and it lasts alot longer.

Being weaker than Opana the withdrawls will not be as bad. But the main thing is it lasts a very long time, this means you can go 24 hours if not more from your last dose without going into withdrawl. Methadone is also given to people who wish to quit opiates, taper schedules are readily available and easy to make when you decide to come off. (doesn't mean easy to follow).

The downside of methadone is the withdrawl can last weeks instead of up to one week. This is because it lasts so long. Your doctor should be willing to help with a fairly painless taper schedule when the time comes though.

Other drugs you may want to look into are oxycontin and ms contin. Continous release oxycodone and morphine. Both are weaker than methadone and would be easier than m'done to come off of, but require more frequent dosing to avoid wd.

hmm I wish I could dive on the grenade of having an over zealous oxymorphone pushing doctor for you. lol.

Opana is a strange thing. When I first started snorting them, i had already been snorting roxys for a long time, and before i knew it i was taking 80-120mgs opana daily through my nose.. The w/ds were far worse than oxy or any other w/d i've felt.

Now i'm down to eating a handful of 30mg morphines per day and hoping to stay this way til i can slowly ween off em.:|

lately i've really been serious abouit getting off opiates for good. it's like almost 2 yrs flew by and i didnt even know it and have been addicted to opiates for the whole time.

im just hoping that after i get off completely ill be able to bang some demerol or dilaudid, or opana ONCE IN A WHILE, without falling into them again.

Good luck being able to do them "once in a while" without getting back into the everyday routine.

^^oh yeah most def, don't expect to be able to i.v every
"once in awhile" if your addicted... beacause before you know it you will be doing it everyday again, im telling you

LOL Smokey....Thanks for the info...I am still miserable and it has been six days or something since I took and Opana ER. I did however take an immediate relief yesterday and I think I really screwed up!!!!!! I can't really remember when I decided that coming of the Opana was such a great idea, but I have definitely had doubts in the last few days. I feel like such a whimp for not being able to handle this...my doc would be pissed at me right about now, he still wants to give me the Opana ER's 40's and 20's and then the Opana immediate relief I don't know why. I just wish I knew when this withdrawal crap would stop.

Six days should be enough to get through the worst of it, although Ive never w/d'd from oxyM (yet alone seen one, theys goold in dem bottles) so I cant say forsure...but again since your LAST dose, taking one may start the whole cycle over again, although unlikely and if it happens it wont be as strong as last time.

Since your determined to go cold turkey, which I HIGHLY reccomend AGAINST (those docs think you need meds for a reason!) theres a few things you should get to make your journey more bearable.

1. Loperamide. anti diarreah. ammodium AD
2. benadryl
3. Benzos!!! (if you have access, these are KEY) xanax, klonopin, temazepam etc....only way i've found to get sleep and stop sweating.
3a. ambien, zopiclone, sonata, same idea as benzos, sleep and stop sweating.
4. neurontin or pregabalin
5. Nyquill (the DXM and Doxy both help)
6. Aleve / Ibuprofen
7. clonidine. helps with sleep and sweats.
6. Lots of vitamins fluids foood. try and get your brain and body back on track
7. Maybes, Pot, Caffeine.

well I have the benadryl, the ambien, I have some neurontin, aleve, clonidine....I am basically just a walking drug store...LOL like I said my doc likes to prescribe, he just does not seem to get it when you don't want them. It is weird. I know a lot of people on here are probably thinking I should shut up and quit complaining (oh the heartache of having too many meds right???) I don't mean to complain I just know what it is like firsthand to watch someone you love die (my seven year old son). Also I just want my life back....I want to be me again, like I said before I am a total bitch on some of this stuff....I don't like being that way. Also I have a 3 yr old nd a 12 yr old and they need their mommy...not someone that is just too drugged up to care. I really appreciate anyone that has helped me with this....as I am sure you can tell I don't really know too much about all of this....just the meds I am on or have been on and that is because I read a lot when the doc starts something new. He had initially said he would admit me to the hospital for detox....but here lately he just gives me more and more. So I am doing it myself. Thanks Smokey for all of your help!!!

sounds like your pretty well set to battle your w/d's (itll still be hard), If I were you Id do it something like this.

Wake up, take .1-.3 mg of clonidine, change out of sweaty clothes.
take a gram of neurontin (1000 mg) a couple aleves and a couple benadryl.
these should last you well into the day, dose neurontin aleve and benadryl once more when you start to get really sick, maybe 5-10 mg ambien after dinner..
when your ready to go to sleep, 15 mg ambien, 50 mgs benadryl, .1-.3 clonidine maybe one or two more aleves 300 mgs neurontin.
If you have enough ambien to dose 3x a day go for it in the morning too.

Remember Nyquill and Immodium are both over the counter....the immodium is pretty essential for me. Helps with the stomach cramps and the on label purpose. It is also an opioid that cannot cross the BBB some claim that helps relieve withdrawls, personally I find that bullshit.

and no problem helping out, I think your case takes priority for a few reasons. 1. You didnt get yourself into this on purpose, not the average "hey I started college and was snorting 6 bags of heroin a day, now im sick, HELP" 2. you have a family to support and have went through enough. 3. Most importantly you ACTUALLY want to stay quit, 90% of W/D questions, mine included ,are just to get past w/d till there dealer scores or the next paycheck or whatever.

Being someone who doesn't enjoy the meds, has so much in life, and is truly motivated to stay quit increases your odds about ten fold, minimum. You'll succeed, no doubts.
