On several occasions I have taken .25 mg Xanax after consuming 6 to 8 beers.... it induced a wonderful sense of euphoria HOWEVER I did feel like my heart was beating eratically..... I believe both substances are CNS depressants and was basically wondering how dangerous this combo could potentially become. Bear in mind I keep the Xanax at the minimum level of .25 mg
Any advice would be great

Anyway, in all honesty, it's not that dangerous of a combo PROVIDED you're taking .25mg of Xanax and a few beers... remember, by itself, benzos can hardly be considered "possibly fatal" as youwould have to take SO MANY to die you would probably pass out beforte you could consume enough...
Now when you mix alcohol with benzos there *IS* a risk and it CAN be fatal - I have to say that, if I didn't it would be irresponsible... but as I said, a few beers and some Xanax is great .. the biggest risk to come is that you may wake up not remembering anything that happened the night before, and with inhabitions (sp) shot to shit you may end up fucking someone you didn't want to - at which point girls claim they were raped, when the reality is they were simply too fucked up to realize they didn't want to have sex with said guy - not to say guys don't find girls that are fucked up and take advantage of them, but often she is ready to go then wishes she hadn't in the morning..
 
I've taken low doses of xanax(don't remember exact dose) as well as klonopin(1-2mg) as a starter for the night many times. Afterwards usually followed weed, alcohol, and coke. Seems like a safe combo for me as long as you don't go overboard on the benzos or alcohol.
 
All of my xanny alcohol expieriences have been harm free. I have taken as much as 6mg of xanax when drinking, granted i dont remember doing this, I do know I didnt die (obviously) well thats just my two cents. And oh yeah its always good to have friends around when u do it so u dont like passout and smash ur head or die. :\
 
It's a safe combo if taken in a reasonable dose. If you go overboard and take 10mg's & drink till your shitfaced you will feel the wrath...
 
seriously, this combo must be done very very carefully, you can't reverse the number of pills of amount of alcohol you drink. it's hard to tell when you're getting too fucked up with the combo.
6mgs is a crazy amount of xanax to be taking with any amount of alcohol. that's alot of xanax for someone to take with low benzo tolerance. i've taken 3mgs of klonopin(sp?) and 1.5 hrs later drank only 2 beers (and i can usually really put em down) and just totally blacked out! i woke up with a fuckin 17 yr old in the back of my minivan in the driveway of a friends house i haven't tallked to in over a year!
all in all, please be careful mixing booze and benzos. i just didn't want you to get the idea it's fine 'n dandy taking 2+ mgs and drinkin tons of beer on top of it. you could seriously hurt yourself, and we don't want that. we love you!

In my experience, if you take the xanax first and wait for it to kick in before you start drinking, you will have a hard time consuming enough alcohol to get to a dangerous level. Unless you are chugging hard liquor or playing drinking games, you will get dizzy and nauseous (and thus puke) long before the point of fatal toxicity. Puking gets rids of any unabsorbed alcohol in your stomach and usually diminishes your desire to drink more alcohol.
Irresponsible or not, I think that you would have to be dedicated to killing yourself to die from this combo. The worst thing that is likely to happen to you would be similar to the last time I took the combo. I took 2mg xanax and because I didn't get to this party until 2am and was sober, I started slaughtering beers off of the keg. I probably drank 9 or 10 Rolling Rocks between 2am and 5am. After that, the room felt like it was spinning and I went to bathroom and puked and almost fell asleep in there (I smoked someone else's dank earlier so that didn't help things). I managed to get up and go pass out on a couch. I don't remember most of the night, but I had an all day long hangover the next day (I never get hangovers from just alcohol anymore) and couldn't get off of the couch until that evening. I was just kind of half-awake/half-asleep most of the day. And still, some of my friends have done far worse, and lived to tell about it.
Another interesting thought is that there is some cross-tolerance between benzos and alcohol, so if you have a hefty alcohol tolerance, it will take more benzos than the average person to get sloshed. One of my alcoholic friend's once took 8mg xanax and drank about a case of beer (24 beers) over the course of a night. When I say he is an alcoholic, I mean it, so unless you have 3 dui's and a double digit number of other alcohol citations, don't take that much of either drug. He didn't even get sick though.
I will say that you should NOT drive a motor vehicle (including golf carts which I have seen people manage to drive into a house and get arrested for) when you combine benzos and alcohol in any amount. Too many people have destroyed their cars or hurt other people when trying to drive on this combo (of course they have no recollection of the event the next day).
 
Thanks for the advice guys, I think from now on I will not exceed .25 - .5mg Xanax in combination with alcohol. Isnt that the way Jimi Hendrix died? I know they didnt have Xanax back then but didnt he take a bunch of downers + alcohol and ended up choking on his own vomit???
 
I think he did take a large amount of downers + alcohol, but there is a HUGE difference between barbiturates and benzodiazepines. He took barbs, and they are FAR more toxic then benzos, esp. when combined with alcohol. You can take 10 times the prescribed amount of any benzo. and you will just sleep for a while. But 10 times the prescribed dose of a barb. like nembutal or seconal is enough to produce serious toxicity; much less of a barb is needed to cause this toxicity when alcohol is mixed in. Just exercise a minimal amount of caution when combining benzos and alcohol, and you will have no problems (toxic effects). Barbs are another story, are rarely prescribed for anything (the good ones at least), and probably should never be combined with alcohol unless you like to live dangerously.
