kind of a crapshoot...KS, IL, and New Orleans are
I'm not naming any names, not naming any drugs, I just want to know what the likelihood is that I found a legit online pharmacy. It's expensive and I'm not going to use it if they're just going to take my money and send me nothing. I've never dealt w/ online pharmacies before and I'd just sort of like to know what to look out for, warning signs of a bad one, etc. I do not believe this topic violates any policies, but of course, if it does, go ahead and close it.

Well one warning sign is if they are selling any schedule 2 drugs, this is the case for all of the online pharmacys i know. Also what country are they operating out of, if in the US dont do it unless you have a perscription. Then the last advice i give you is order small the first time. You could also try searching for online pharmacy information web papges that have advice and legit online pharmacys on them

Without naming names, it's relatively easy to score your average benzos, and low-end opiates like codeine off of international online pharmacies.
I'd be leary of any place that offers oxy/hydrocodone or anything of that sort. They are far and few between, although they do exist, don't order anything big without "testing the waters" first.

You can get hydrocodone from US op's, but you have to pay 100 USD or so for a DR, consult, then buy the meds through their or an approved pharmacy. The whole procedure is rather expensive, but I've heard that they give good results.

No puvlishing URL to web sites that do nothing but list online pharmacies (there was a reply I deleted for this reason) ..
In answer to the question - how do you know who's legit? Well, you can ask around - thats probably the best way.. the legit places will often bring a good word form your peers, the shady places will almost certinly draw a negitive word ..
You can try the Other Drugs channel on the Bluelight IRC server, but be warned, if you come in and just start asking for sources you will be banned, but if you throw out some pharmacies and ask for reviews someone might help you!
Can you tell from the website? No, ya really can't .. there are SOME things to look out for -
1) Offering things that are simply NOT gunna be offered "without prescription" - basically anything thats a C-II in the US isn't sold free of regulation/OTC ANYWHERE in the world, nor will you get it after an "online consultation" .. for instance, if a site is offering Dilaudid, Oxycodone, Morphine, etc - it's almost certinly a scam, because even in some totally lawless country, you STILL can't go buy the stuff OTC.. in fact, in many countries where you can buy codeine and benzos without a prescription, the strong shit simply isn't available outside of hospitals because of how abused it could be .. again, once in a great while you will find someone that offers something thats pure chemical sex and you only need to send them money, but these places often die faster then you can load yer rig! But it's best to AVOID these sites as MOST SCAMMERS will throw all this shit on their site - OXYCONTIN is the BIG DRUG to claim you have, and thats what these scammers are doing.. they invest a couple hundred to setup a site, claim they will sell you OC-40's for $5 each if you buy 100, and a week later their site is gone and their email bouncing.. of course they could have made tens of thousands durring that one week..
Again, there are exceptions - recently there was a pharmacy that offered everything from Dilaudid to OxyContin - they charged about tripple what the pharamcy did but it was still better then what your local drug dealer charged.. people got their shit - it went on for damn near 4 months too, then they just vanished and emails now go unanswered... but a ton of people (myself included) had ordered C-II shit from late last year until they went offline - NO ONE lost any money!
2) Errors regarding the drug, dose, prices, etc.. you have to be a little more versed in pharmacutical drug knowledge, but this is a great way to find a scammer thats, well, as clueless as most drug users... I like finding scam sites that have errors because some are so funny it's pure comedy.. for instance, if you come upon a site that is offering 50mg OxyContin or 3mg Dilaudid, 15mg Percocet or anything like that .. other sites have went right out and MADE UP DRUGS that DON'T EVEN EXIST .. also, PRICES - if it sounds to good to be true, god damnit, it most likely IS! Sorry, when your local chain pharmacy sells OxyContin at .13 per mg for Ohh-Sees (meaning a 40mg tabs sells about $4.40-$4.80) do you think some online pharmacy is going to actually sell theirs for half as much sans script?
Again, sometimes there is some wack situation where it's true, an example from a couple years ago was [EDIT - removed the name as they still have a site selling some stuff], where the person behind the site has a source for expired drugs at about 1/4th the cost of non-expired drugs, they then are able to sell them for a killer profit - all kinds of shit that should have been trashed was re-sold as like HALF what you would pay in a pharmacy with a legit script ..
3) Billing/registration in the US when it shouldn't be - the first thing I check when I find a new site is info on the website itself.. of course since it would be downright silly to waste time dealing with a geocities website, most online pharms have nifty domain names like "www.FreedomLibertyNationPharmacyDrugsWholesaleOnline.com" .. so you go to Network Solutions (www.networksolutions.com) and do a whois on the domain name - you will get info on the technical and billing contact, the name of the person that owns it, where the bill is sent, where the business is (suposidly) located.. what you're looking for is WHERE everything is actually at - the website can claim to be "Your #1 direct source for pharmacuticals from Hong Kong" but the address is a PMB (Private Mail-Box - like a Mail Boxes Etc type deal) in Waverly, Iowa .. I have busted a ton of sites this way.. people claim they are in another country, and some even go as far as typing in a broken-english, only to find out it's being hosted in New Jersey and paid for in New York ..
On the other hand, there are some things that you CAN'T use to tell if a site is legit.. a few examples include:
*) The website desigin - don't think that it's a scam if it's simply HTML with minimum graphics, no fancy online shopping cart, just an address to send payment to - a lot of the best sources have websites that LOOK LIKE they were coded by someone with no experience making webpages.. as anyone "in the know" can tell you, probably the BEST online source for benzos and hydrocodone (with no script or consult, it's overseas) is nothing but a single page, a backgorund that horribly contrasts with the text color, some MS-Paint style graphics, and the guy doesn't even have his own domain name, it's hosted off his personal account with his ISP (he just has an address where you mail your money order to) .. on the flip side of the coin, I have seen some websites with flash menues, drug search engines, CGI shopping carts, a layout thats looks like a teams of graphics pros made it a full-time project, etc.. and they were 100% scams!
*) A site that doesn't take credit cars on online payment ISN'T JUST A SCAM FOR THAT REASON! Now if they ONLY take cash that might be an indication they are not on the up-and-up, but just because they don't take credit cards, and want you to mail in a money order or cashiers check, they could still be legit - honestly, a site that doesn't take credit cards just knows that a lot of people that order drugs from outside the US to get around US laws are also the type that have a file full of stolen credit card numbers with info..
I am sure I am forgetting some shit but whatever...

Great review by PhreeX. Unless the site is one which people I know and trust have used for a while I'd never dream of sending cash. Use your credit card. That way it is impossible for you to get ripped off. Even if your card is billed and you get nothing (or an empty package) you can't lose money. Your credit card company might lose money but you won't. Just say "I did not sign to authorise that, I am not paying for that. If you want to take me to court go ahead." They have no signiture and so there is no way to make you pay.

This is all very good to know and I really appreciate everyone's input. I'm glad I checked before I did business. Unfortunately, the drug I'm after IS a Schedule II, so it's looking unlikely that I'll find a legit online pharmacy to sell it. I'm glad I got this info!

I'd suggest dont do searching on web search engines (for web sites), because MOST (if not all?) are just those things that say "pay xx$ and sign up and you can get a list of pharmacies, you can get any drug! without prescription!". I'd stay away from the ones that advertise...
There are message boards out there, where people discuss different ones, if people got their package, seizure problems with certain ones, etc. Most of these people seem to really need them, or cant afford the drugs in the US (or whatever country they are from) I'm not going to post any board, but...search hard enough and you'll find some really good ones, with all kinds of stuff EXCEPT most opiates (except codeine maybe, ultram), but benzo's...god..all over..some of those pharms are SO cheap, and provide good service..then there are other legit ones that are suuuuper expensive.
