Four suspects are expected to face a judge for the first time Friday after being accused of possessing more than a ton of marijuana.

Alejandro Valencia, 25, Miguel Vasquez, 37, Angelica Vasquez, 20, and Manuel Vasquez, 29, were all arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession and conspiracy to sell and transport marijuana.

On Tuesday afternoon, an anonymous caller reported several people moving something from a van into a home on the 9700 block of Loftus Drive. When deputies arrived, they saw four people running from the van which was parked in the driveway. Authorities say they found 2,140 pounds of marijuana valued at $1.5 million inside the van.

The three men and the woman were taken into custody. Their bail was set at $100,000 each.

An anonymous caller. Nosy people with nothing better to do. Imagine the call to 911.

911 Operator: 911, what is your emergency?

Nosy neighbor: umm yah, sumpin weird is goin on at mah neighbor's house. they got a van in the driveway, and they taking stuff out of the van, and puttin it into the house.

911 Operator: (stifling laughter) Your neighbors are taking stuff out of their van, and moving it into their house? Okay, what would you like us to do about that?

Nosy neighbor: i dunno, but ya'll need to come do somethin, cuz i'm tired of these mexicans movin into the neighborhood, driving down mah property prices

911 Operator: Ohhh, mexicans! Why didn't you say that in the first place? We'll send a patrol car over right away.

I just can't imagine how authorities would even show up over an anonymous phone call where the caller said people were moving 'something' from a van into a home.

Yeah but even a ton of brick weed is worth alot of money. Nothing wrong with it, an affordable alternative for people on a budget.

The "anonymous caller" who reported them is probably a complete fabrication. They probably got narc'd, and the police are just saying this to build a cover for whoever spilled the beans.

yep

they will usually wait for a big enough or too big of a transaction. or record several transactions to help stick with the trafficking, distribution, organized crime enhancements, or snoop out the other associates and their roles..

Yeah the annon. call is most definitely bullshit.

When I was young, mother always said "Do not trust the police, they are not your friends."

1.5 million bucks for 2140 pounds is $700 per pound.
Sounds like really low-quality weed to me. Probably grown with serious pesticides/herbicides, as well.
I wouldn't seriously want it to be illegal, any more than vegetables heavily sprayed with pesticides and then moved thousands of miles should be illegal , but in both cases, I would prefer to discourage them.
Local and organic is best for everyone. Give me locally-grown (homegrown, possibly hydroponic) , organic weed anytime.
Too bad I can't get any weed at all now, here...:(
