Ex-Bluelighter
You hear that? That's music.
Your mom and dad have been playing that for you for almost nine whole months now.
It's a form of communication.
Eons old. You'll hear it everywhere.
But you'll be exposed to a different kind altogether than those of your ancestors.
There are all kinds, all styles, to the most vauge to the very exact.
Yours is popular music. At times, it can be very good,
but it can also become very dangerous.
Sometimes you'll have to fight the heartbreaking sounds of endearing pop-eaque Montreal altrock.
FIGHT IT!
But, enjoy the music as much as you can. You wanna know a secret?
It's better making up your own lyrics.
Make the words meaningful to you.
One way I've found is making up your own words to it.
It'll turn a sad song happy.
Then, there's the beat.
The beat is a part of you, inside.
We share the beat with everyone.
We all have one.
You'll meet people and share each other's beat, and learn to appreciate it.
Their beat dictates how they move in life.
Either they're fast, or slow.
Choppy and indistinct, or manufactured.
Words and music and sound are wasted sometimes.
Why? Because there is something tangible.
The message.
But the message can get confused.
Make your own message.
So, listen now to "diagonals" (no one listens to Stereolab),
and understand that you, yourself, are a different story.
Arghhh. Popular music (modern music, generally) is so good in eliciting a response from us.
It's like hypnosis.
Now understand that you should love music.
I love music. But not when you have something heavy on your mind.
So don't listen to the All-Sappy, Lovey kinds of heartache state radio hour when you're feelin' blue.
Music will always be there, good times or bad. You'll be challenged by it.
Learn to love it.
Enjoy, because you never know when it'll be gone...
Time for you to go.
Welcome to life.
