So I?ve been on Norco and Percocet for 10 years. Had my whole spine fused and I?m in tremendous pain on the daily basis. I normally take 6x 10/325 a day but many times will need to add something to the mix like extra Percocet or NorCos. But I?ve been noticing, even with all this hassle and money spent, I?m still in a ton of
pain. Dr recommended dilauded 2 years ago. Kick myself in the butt for not taking that because that offer came off the table soon after, when the war on opiates heated up. Not to mention, all this Tylenol feels like it?s killing me. I?m constantly nauseas, gagging, throwing up or just feeling unwell.

so I?m at the point where I?ve seen 3 pain doctors, none try to dose me adequately, they actually try to lessen my meds until I tell them that?s not gonna fly. But it really feels like a losing battle. 25hours ago I dosed shall a Percocet and went to sleep. I woke up in horrible shape from my stomach as I have been and I just told
myself, screw the world, I?m staying in bed today and attempting to get off my pain pills. If im
still in so much pain with them, how much worse can it be without them? To my surprise, my pain wasn?t as bad today. It felt about the same or better than yesterday when I took about 8 Percocet (really bad bad). I honestly don?t think my pain is going to get better unless something a lot stronger is given and I know these people aren?t going to give it. So what?s the point getting 6 Percocet a day right now if I feel just as much pain on and off them?

my plan to go cold
turkey didn?t work today. I?ve been having a lot of blood pressure and heart palpitations and I didn?t want anythifn weird to happen like a stroke towards the 21 hour mark. So I just dosed half a Percocet about 2 hours ago. It instantly made
me feel ?normal?. Regulated my blood
pressure and heart.I know I?m physically addicted but I?m definitely not mentally addicted. I?ve gone cold turkey 2-3 times in my life for different reasons but I was in better health then. I just wasn?t too confidant in my body this time.

So my question, I know going from my dose to half a pill (or even one Whole
pill if I take the other half before I go to bed) isn?t a typical wheening strategy, but if my body feels normal, why not? Also, if I?m able to keep this dose for a couple more days, should I go to a quarter of a pill? Just really lost, don?t want to end up in the ER or with ems at my house and any advice, suggestions or comments would be most appreciated. I

They did a study that showed chronic opiate use lowers your pain tolerance. So as counterintuitive as it seems you may not be in as much pain as you think once you get off. Unfortunately the next week is going to be hell. I mean hell. It's going to be bad. You have access to benzos? Gabapentin? Lyrica? Weed? All those would help. If you don't have any I'd probably wait and try to procure some

Hi Julian!

I went to a chronic pain Rehab program 4yrs ago. Their goal was to teach us better ways to deal with chronic pain than reaching for our meds. In some cases they reduced the amount of pain meds patients were on. For other cases, they took them completely off opiates.

It's scientifically proven that opiates stop working when taken long term. Or stop working as effectively. As you already know, chronic pain is a complicated situation.

Are you on any other meds besides opiates for pain?

cj's advice is spot on. If you're able, try to prepare for detoxing. If you can get some comfort meds like gabapentin, Lyrica, clonidine - that would be great.

Loperamide helps give relief to alot of people. I have to take DXM (Mucinex severe cough formula) in addition to the loperamide. Take DXM according to directions, that's all you need anyway. You won't feel so good if you take too many.

Get stuff to drink like Gatorade. I also get Regular Coca-Cola, it helps me with upset stomach.

Pick up easy to eat and prepare foods. Soups, pudding, Popsicles. Having all this stuff ahead of time is much better than attempting to get it while really ill.

I hope you come back to update us. Hang in there!
