Opioids On SUBOXONE maintenance; switch to VICOPROFEN, taper & quit??

I'll try to keep this short, sweet, yet understandable.
I was an opiate addict for nine years, would stop here and there, but always fell back into addiction -as we all know, it's hard! Finally, I was able to get insured on SUBOXONE maintenance a year and a half ago. Fast foward to now -my job is closing, so therefore I am getting dumped out on the curb, NO INSURANCE, NO JOB, =EXPENSIVE/UNAFFAORDABLE suboxone. So now I am stuck. Im at 12mg of sub, my job closes in a month, and I don't foresee tapering from that dose easy to finish in one month, to where I don't need to take anything, and I'm not in withdrawal.
I know either way, this won't be easy, but my question is this: because of having some teeth pulled, I have twenty VICOPROFEN 7.5. Would it be possible, and more likely that I could switch from the subs to the vico, begin to taper the vico bit by bit, to try and quit my use of everything? I want to quit. I don't want to be a prisoner to suboxone anymore; it has helped me ALOT, but in a sticky situation like mine, where you are on a pretty high dose and need to slowly taper; but suddenly get thrown a curveball like the one I just caught -I have to look for other ways out. Knowing that my mind is set on trying to quit it all, do you think the idea of using something like the vicoprofen would work, or be useful, being that I'll spread it out, and use less and less each day? I need some opinions on this; it would be easier to come off of the VIC more than it would to taper from 12mg of SUB in just one months time, correct? Please let me know what you think -and if any of you have been through this experience, working a suboxone program, but then switching to a shorter-acting opiate and taper, to try to get off of it all -I need to hear about it! Does it sound possible? Have you ever tried this, and failed/succeeded? I am VERY interested in what you all have to say, and if you've been through it. I know it's not a piece of cake, but I want to get control of this. Thank you guys in advance-your thoughts and answers will be MUCH APPRECIATED:)

OR, I just thought of another idea: switch from my subs to the vicoprofen for a few days, and then after that few days of Vic use, switch back to maybe TWO SUBS, spread out and tapered over maybe almost a weeks time...would my tolerance have gone down considerably by then, making it a ton easier to jump off?? I'm wondering if this way would kind of neutralize out the long year and a halfs time I've been on the subs.
I hope I'm not confusing y'all to much, and you understand what I'm trying to put into words here:)

I'd say it's probably better to switch off the Suboxone (buprenorphine) to the Vicoprofen (hydrocodone) and then just taper down with the hydrocodone....switching between the two could work but it would only be prolonging it.

Nothing wrong with keeping some Suboxone around in case you need it though. YMMV, but there are some members on here who have successfully tapered down off Suboxone using a shorter-acting full agonist opiate (like hydrocodone or oxycodone).

Yeah, I agree with neighborhoodThreat,
What I would do, is taper with the suboxone you have first. I would jump down to 8 mg a day for three days, then four mg for three days, then 2mg for about a week, and then down to one mg for about another week, and then switch to the hydrocodone. If you switch from suboxone at 12mg straight to the hydrocodone, you're going to run out of it real quick, because the amount you will need to stay out of withdrawal is going to be quite a lot, and you'll run out of it in a couple of days.

If you taper with the suboxone you have, every three days, and then stay at 2mg for a week, and then 1mg for a week and then switch to the hydrocodone, you will be able to use less to ward off the withdrawals. The key would be to make the hydrocodone last you for about 12 days (that's about how long it takes for suboxone to be out of your system), and then to just suffer out the withdrawals. Anyway you do it, it's not going to be pleasant, but if you switch to the hydrocodone from 12mg of buprenorphine, you will waste it. You might also try and invest in some Kratom, so you can switch from the hydrocodone to that, for perhaps a gentler landing. Good luck!
