Yay, yet another Prozac/MDMA thread.

I know from personal experience from being unable to fill my prescription that it takes about 3 or 4 days before I feel like the Prozac is out of my system entirely. I know it's not recommended to stop taking any antidepressants just to roll, but I find that MDMA is much more therapeutic than Prozac and a shrink.

I'll be getting allegedly "high-grade" molly. I'll be aahh, outsourcing it, so I can't check it out before I purchase it. But from what I hear, it has roughly 150 - 200 mg of MDMA per capsule. I'll keep pressing for more info, maybe get a picture or a regent test, but based off of where it's coming from, it's probably good stuff. At the very least, I know it's not cut with garbage.

About how long should I be off of my Prozac before I can roll? And I know there's discrepancies about 5-HTP increasing the effectiveness of a roll, but I was thinking of taking that as an alternative while I clean out my system of SSRIs (I'm a mess off all meds, but 5-HTP does a good job keeping the crazies in line).

Please and thank you. :)

The Half Life for Prozac taken over a long period of time is 4-6 Days, so plan on 10 days at a minimum for it to get out of your system fully, I'd actually plan about 12.

In my past I've dabbled with taking 5-HTP before I drop. I've done it 3 hours out 7 hours out and 12 hours out, And I dropped once with a 5-htp pill, I'd recommend having your body clean of 5-htp for atleast 20 hours before you drop. IMO 5-HTP is more of a recovery thing then anything else.

Fuck that stop taking prozac all together for like a month imo your retarded,, uhmm you already have major depression problems so bad your on ssri meds and now your rolling??? retarded!!

You will probably have to wait 2-3 weeks for mdma to have much of an effect, seeing as prozac has a ridiculously long half-life.

sorry bro, but prozac isnt sumthin that you can just "stop" for a few days and be good to roll.

It blocks the re-uptake of a crucial neurotransmitter called serotonin which MDMA acts on. All the time you have been taking prozac your brain has essentially "re-wired" itself. Its not something that can be "un-done" in 4-6 days...

Realistically, tapering off prozac and getting your brain to re-wire itself back to normal will probably take 4-6 weeks.

Sorry to be a buzz kill but its the truth. You will probably ignore me and try it anyway, but Im just trying to save you from wasting your MDMA.

Dont take my word for it...you gunna find out for yourself.

Good huntin.

Wow, no need to get negative. I actually was asking for advice.

Is there any anti-depressant out there that won't fuck with MDMA? 5-HTP works well for keeping my moods level, but it doesn't do shit for the anxiety. I could probably last about a month on it.

I have to second MS- this is essentially the truth. I do not know how long it takes to be genuinely "out of your system", I've heard any where from 2 weeks to 6. I'm sure it depends on dose and how long you've been on your meds.

SSRI's by their nature will inhibit the ability of MDMA to work they way one desires it to. There are also heightened risks for problems, and Serotonin Syndrome when attempting to roll while on anti-depressants.

You could talk to your MD about going on anti-depressants that do not effect serotonin, but I am not aware of any (I have no personal experience with anti-depressants).

There are many threads by people who responsibly went off anti-depressants with the assistance of their doctor, and managed to enjoy MDMA weeks later. If you are experiencing anxiety as well, it would probably be a good idea to talk to your doctor about switching to an anti-depressant that helps. I am not a fan of taking daily medication for mood regulation, but if you need it and it's helping you function you should not attempt to abandon it.

5-HTP prior to MDMA will actually contribute to weakening the MDMA experience. Piracetam is optimal prior to MDMA use, 5-HTP is to help your mood after.

I found aniracetam to be a great anti-depressant, as well as one of the best anxiolitics I've tried. The anti-depressant effects seem to come from a general lack of ability to experience boredom while on it. I think it works with your 5-ht receptors (As well as many other) so this may play a role as well. Not to mention the neuroprotective effects if you plan on taking MDMA.

SSRI's and 5-HTP will dull(or block) an MDMA experience. Most anti-depressants are SSRI's or MAOI's(serotonin syndrome when mixed with SSRI's or MDMA). I rolled about a year ago when I had been on Prozac, and everything went fine, but I had only been back on the Prozac for about a month and stopped for 5 days prior to rolling. I'm not going to say you shouldn't stop the Prozac to roll, but you should definitely consider the decision carefully. For me personally, the re-adjustment to SSRI's is not worth the start and stop. Now I've been off the meds completely for about 10 months.

Thank you.

They are shit. They made me not feel so down, but that's because they made me not feel anything. Like, at all. I think they can be a good short term solution to get things going, but long time use has too many problems. I've found better ways of dealing with depression.

It's a decision I don't take lightly at all, that's for sure. I've had depression for about 10 years now, and Prozac is just about the only thing that actually helped with it. But, the difference is barely noticeable in retrospect, and I still get depressed/suicidal while taking it (though it's very rare, and traumatic shit sort of justifies it). I don't like the idea of being dependent on any medication, and I was managing just fine without it in the past.

I think right now wouldn't be the best time to stop taking my Prozac for a month. Maybe about a week, take 5-HTP as an alternative to SSRIs, and stop taking it 24 hours before I plan to roll. I might not have the best time of my life, but a night on MDMA is like a year of therapy, so I believe it's worth it. Between the medication and a whole lot of series of events that I've been bottling up, I could use it. And who knows, maybe after that, I won't feel like I need the Prozac anymore.

I (unintentionally) experienced extremely therapeutic and beneficial effects from MDMA- it helped me get out of a toxic relationship that I had been in 7+ years, and most beneficial, it seems to make me capable of far more appreciation and happiness in my day-to-day life. I am far less jaded, and far more appreciative of every friend, every dollar, every waking day etc. etc. I am far closer to my family as a result as well, and have shared MDMA with my father and brother with absolutely wonderful results.

I did not have the factor of ever being a clinically depressed person, nor ever on any medication to stabilize my mood. MDMA was my first "drug", even before I ever tried weed.

If you do not feel anything from a normal starting dose, don't re-dose until you do- this can end very badly.

If you are going to all this trouble, please use a test kit. There is no trusted source, no matter what. There are plenty of adulterants that pass off as an MDMA experience, such as methylone (bk-MDMA). Make sure you are getting the real deal.

That is exactly why I love MDMA. First time I did it, I did it to get high. It wasn't the best roll (cut to shit with meth), but I still felt that everything was okay. Even if it wasn't, it's okay. After that, I had cleaner rolls, just MDMA and filler, and each time, I wasn't "stoned", "high", etc. I was...accepting. Everything that has gone wrong in my life, I was able to forgive it. I was able to forgive my horrible boss, my abusive ex, my shitty friends, and realize that it's not me that causes these things. Sometimes, you just get dealt a shitty hand in life. And after that experience, I cut off everything that was negative in my life, like a gangrenous stump. It was a truly freeing experience, and I really appreciated everything after that.

I really could use that again. I've been pretty down on myself lately, and there's still a slight glimmer of that evening in my mind, but negative thoughts seem to be winning. I don't like to think I'm using it as a crutch, more like I'm doing emotional laundry.

I've never redosed. After an experience where I redosed on DXM and my brain was broken for a week, I avoid doing anything in excess, or staggering my dosages. Yeah, as much as I would love to have a two hour peak or roll so hard that I have no eyeballs, I'd rather play it safe.

I checked out the kits on Dancesafe, and $50 isn't bad. But, I rarely roll. I don't want to purchase something I'm only going to use once or twice. But, it would be nice doing tests for friends who find rolls. Make sure they aren't going to get pipe bombs and whatnot.
