On Effexor XR 75mg/day okay to take Tramadol at all?

I am already prescribed HydroMorphContin 30mg's TID here in Canada.. I usually crush, and sniff them though.
Anyways, I'm also on Diazepam 40mg/day, and Lyrica 300mg BID.

Since Effexor XR is an SNRI, and Tramadol has some SNRI properties to it. Is it safe to take any dose of Tramadol with Effexor XR? I've been on Effexor XR for almost 2 years now, was at 150mg, but decided I Wanted to get off Effexor XR, so I am down to 75mg. But sometimes when I am running low on Hydromorphone (since I have to pickup my prescription every 3 days) would it be okay to take a dose of 100mg of Tramadol or even 200mg of Tramadol and mix it with the Hydromorphone? Like what I mean is I would take the Tramadol ORALLY, and then wait a little bit and then sniff some Hydromorphone, would this be okay while I also take Effexor XR 75mg/day ? I know there is a risk of Serotonin Syndrome, but I do take Trazodone to sleep Occasionally, and have not had any issues with taking Trazodone while on Effexor XR, but can somebody tell me if they have ever been prescribed Tramadol while being on Effexor XR?

BTW - I have a HUGE tolerance to Opioids and Benzo's.. its insane, and now Lyrica as well.
Not trying to dicksize or anything like that. Most the time I will take Diphenhydramine before I sniff my hydro's to potentiate. Since Diph is the only OTC antihistamine in Canada.

Be nice to get a script for Hydroxyzine again..
 
I take Effexor XR (Venlafaxine) and you must not take Tramadol with it for the reasons you have already suggested. I recently had a operation and the doctors confirmed the same and prescribed me MST instead, at the time I was taking 30mg of diaz as well.

I'd leave it well alone, it's not worth the risk.

Okay, thanks. I figured so.. Effexor XR & Trazodone are safe to take together. I mean, taking the Effexor XR in the morning and the Trazodone 50-100mg at night.

BTW - What is MST?
 
^ I think MST is Moscontin (XR morphine), but don't quote me on that.
 
i was on 75mgs XR effexor daily for a long time and i took 100 mgs of tramadol once and had a seizure...not fun..i would say DONT DO IT. dont dont dont dont do it.
 
Sorry, yes I mean Morphine Sulphate and I used the extended release ones, they were fine with the Venlafaxine but I didn't tolerate them all that well so switched onto Codeine as the initial, pain of the operation subsided.

I would not take the Trazodone either, it's an SSRI and the Venlafaxine already has some serotonin action so you risk serotonin syndrome, I can't say what the risk is. this site is always useful, the results are a little cautious but that's the best way to go IMO.

^ Trazodone is not an SSRI. It is an SARI. Lots of doctors prescribe Trazodone for sleep while they are on Effexor (SNRI) or an SSRI. The risk is pretty low especially if you are taking low amounts of Trazodone. And 75mgs of Effexor is not that big of a dose at all. So 50-100mg of Trazodone while on Effexor is very very low risk of Serotonin Syndrome.
