On bupe maintenace - snorting it??

Been a long time since I posted. Moved from Tucson to Colorado in the mean time.

I take 12-mgs of bupe/day - I switched from methadone a month or so ago. 12-mgs 'holds' me fine, in fact I bet 8- or 10-mg would 'hold' me too.

My question is to anyone else who takes SubuTEX, not Suboxone, but if so I'll be interested in your replies too, it's just that w/o the naloxone things may be different.

Here's the ?: If I were to snort say a small amount of Subutex, like 4-mgs would I likely feel any sort of "high"? I hear about folks who snort their maintenance dose of bupe - meaning they are on a constant dose, but I can't figure out if they get off on this.

Thanks

I unapproved some irrelevant posts. Please don't make a mess for us to clean up.

Yes, snorting buprenorphine works well. IME, it hits you harder than sublingual. You can also snort suboxone, the naloxone has no effect when you snort it..

No reason not to close the thread now, that pretty much sums it up. I'm on bupe maintenance as well and agree with everything that was said, and I'm on Suboxone.

I can definitely vouch for snorting suboxone. The naloxone doesnt effect anything. I snort 4 -6mg a day, and it works way better than if I were to take the same amount under my tongue.

Id suggest snorting it. You get more bang with less drug. Its not abusing the suboxone either, as you dont really get "high" from it. The feelings of well being and motivation and what not are more pronounced though, so it is worth it.

Go for it.

For me snorting is easier then using it sublingually and it kicks in faster. Also snorting was the only way I would get a buzz off of it, yet thats only with occasional use - when I used several days in a row there was no noticeable high.

i just noticed the thread title - "bube maintenance" - very funny. "im on boob maintence- i need at least 12 boobs a day just to feel normal."

anyway.. i dont have anything productive to add except snorting suboxone is disgusting.. but you have subutex so its not much of a concern.

My Bad

Ok, the next post clarified to me what's going on here.

But I did get the info I needed. Thanks.

im not positive, but i think sonic was talking about some posts that people had written in response to yours, and he unapproved them (deleted them) to remove clutter. i dont think this thread is unreasonable at all..this topic hasnt been covered all that much.

dont worry man, if your thread was irrelevant, they would have closed it. no need to apologize. (unless i completely misunderstood sonic's post)

I'm on 8mgs a day, and yes, snorting works well ( i take suboxone, so subutex is fine to snort), but i can't stand snorting the stuff...it seems to cling to your mucus membrane for awhile before absorbing, and it's quite annoying. I use it IV, only because I can't stand the taste of the stuff, and it makes a very expensive script last longer.

PS - I don't reccomend IV suboxone unless you can't afford it sublingually. it doesn't give you a rush, and is only slightly more effective than the other 2 methods of ingestion. 2 mgs is a huge dose for most people IV...for opiate-naive individuals, .2 sublingually would get you high.

^ Screw that, you should work on trying to not use a needle anymore. You're probably addicted to IVing as well as opiates. I have no doubt that IVing sub works, but still. It makes me glad I have insurance. Even if I didn't I'd just deal with the effects from however much I could afford.

I have insurance too, good insurance, which covers the pills...however, the doctor I see isn't on the blue cross blue shield/signa health panel, so I have to pay out of pocket for office visits. And this doc is one of those that does this for the income, not to help; I never see her for more than 5 minutes, and my initial visit was about 7 minutes. Its about 145 dollars a visit. And I'm 19. I work at an Exxon. I probably am addicted to needles; they say you can develop a fetish so to speak. However, I practice very safe injection practices, double-filtering, new works every time, alcohol swabs, sterile cotton...
However, I did say I don't reccomend it. But it does work.

Yea, but is it really worth trashing your veins? You only go so many, and I would prefer to save them for something a bit better than bupe. Then again, jasoncrest dose it. Jasoncrest is your bupe man, man. ODs resident buperenphrine specialist. He shoots the stuff everyday and knows an absurd amount about it, bupe specifically.

Thats wrong. It is a lot less effective when IVed. It doesnt last even half as long as it does when you snort it or take it sublingually.

You may get more out of a smaller dose, but you just end up taking more because of its shorter duration.

But GM is right. Taking it sublingually is how you should do it, though if you feel you must snort it, it will work too.

Safe injection practices dont mean anything when IVing suboxone. Its terrible for your veins and your lungs. You can octuple (did I just make a word up? I mean 8 times) filter it, it doesnt matter. You should quit while you are ahead and stop shooting it.

I always snorted my suboxone dose. I can't stand the way that shit tastes. I was only doing 1-2mg a day, so it wasn't even that much powder. It kicked in way faster, was stronger, and I never had a problem with the naloxone.

That was the case with me as well, although I called my insurance company and got them to cover my treatment since they couldn't provide me with another doctor in their network who offered suboxone treatment within 30 miles of where I live. Well, they are covering me for 10 visits at least. I still have to pay up front out of pocket for the visits, but I will get reimbursed eventually.

Of course I had to fight the insurance company to get anywhere. Admitting to snobby insurance agents that you're an opiate addict looking for treatment definitely isn't any fun, but I think it's worth trying. Sub treatment/maintenence costs a lot of money! My follow up visits are only $80, but thus far I've had to go every week. My visits are also 5 minutes long. It seems most docs are in it for the money. :\

Wow, Sonic, isn't that crazy? is that what most Doctors do for Sub, I couldn't aford that. My reg doc wanted me to see him everytime I wanted a Oxy script, Like avery 10 days. he wouldn't make it every month. So I quit seeing him and went to a Pain Management Doc. and he see's me every 4 months and writes my scripts every 2 weeks and one once a month.

i swear that after awhile it begins to hurt like fuck to snort it and yoyur nose feels really raw. However, i have ALSO noticed that sublingualing them is terrying my mouth up a little bit. and the tastse is SO fuckign discusting. i so anyways i sublingual 4-8 mg in the mronig, and snorr like 2 in the the evening. snorting 2 mg ALWAYS gets me high, that is NO joke. if your not feeling quite good enough on your dose at teh moment, i would recomend snorting 1-2 mg i dont know why but it always gets me WAY more buzzed than taking a big dose.
also id like to get that nasal spray prescribed to me as an antidepressant :)
less is always more with bupe
i can make a script last 3 or 4 months.
cheers!!

^ You could make your own bupe nasal spray solution and get a metered nasal sprayer. You can do this with pretty much any drug that can be snorted.

Sportfisher39: Yeah, we'll see what the future holds. I just started sub treatment a few weeks ago. If it keeps up like this I'm not sure what I'm going to do.
