Benzos Omg! A dr that knows ashton and is tapering me but question.

Hi all. First thank you for your support recently. I did it! After months of hell and 2 rapid detoxes at detox centers (one ct with phenobarbital) I found a psych doc that not only knows Ashton's method but lives by it. He was so great. Told me those rapid detoxes would damage my brain and that I need a really really slow taper from librium. Feel so much better.

Question. Only on librium for 2.5 months before this hell but he thinks I need 3 months to taper. Is this too long? Or is he spot on. Tx.
 
If your doctor is familiar with Ashton then he should know better than anyone here. We dont have enough information on your background, like your doses and frequency of dosing and such. You hit the jackpot finding a doc that knows how to properly taper benzos. Congratulations and good luck.

Edit: I dont think 3 months is too long by any means, I think Ashton's method is even longer than that depending on how high your doses were.

Yeah, you're VERY lucky to have found a doc that knows about and uses the Ashton Manual/Method, much less has even heard about it. This one's a keeper! Don't screw this one up (not saying you will), I just don't think you realize how lucky you actually are...maybe you do, IDK...but try as HARD as you can to work with him/her, as s/he seems willing to work with you...wow, you REALLY lucked out! Count your blessings my friend! ;)
 
Thanks team! I was surprised too. He's a psych doc so of course I had to go through the 30 min of my life/addiction story but he's the first doc who mentioned Aston and tapering - we're talking out of a dozen others who had no idea who she was.
