Old age of psilocybin mushrooms (cubensis) and parsley

Hello people,
A friend has mexican shrooms in his fridge, they've stayed there for 2 to 3 years, dried and sealed in a bag. I would like to know if the psilocybin in them has decayed or if they are still potent enough to take at the normal doses.

Another thing, I've been smoking parsley for a year now to replace the tobacco in joints. It's excellent, and maybe you know if there are any contradictions to it or any health hazards - as far as I know, anything is healthier than tobacco.

about the mushrooms - most likely the level of alkaloids is lower than usual. by how much there isno way of telling, since they contain various amounts anyway. so normal doses may not have the desired effect. the mushrooms i had stored for a year were useless (but they were at room temperature). your mileage may vary but i wouldnt put too much hope (3 years is a lot...)

about the parsley - no idea. but yeah, probably anything is better than tabacco

Just take the shrooms and see, maybe try upping the dose a bit unless you're not cool with that. Worst case scenario nothing happens, you haven't lost anything. As far as parsley goes I personally don't use tobacco or a tobacco substitute with my joints, it doesn't burn as well but the only thing that's wasted is lighter fuel (and you). But you're probably right, parsley may not be the most healthy alternative but it's better than tobacco :)

^ what he said, chances are they won't have lost MUCH potency if dried properly, and in a thick well-sealed container.

Parsley - no problem I would say, it's a natural herb, used in cooking - try dried peppermint out - it's quite good, and has cooling smoke too.

Mushrooms may have been better left out of the fridge/freezer and left out in a very dry but room temperature place, my impression is that unless the freezer is really cold then the mushrooms may get some other molds on them, my assumption is that they are 100% fine though.

Edit: never tripped on parsley so I wouldn't know. But the real problem with modern tobacco is the processing, the plant itself isn;t nearly as poisonous as whatever is in a cigarette, hell I like the smell of a nice cigar but I am full on allergic to cigarettes.

Aye I haven't craved one in years! thanks hehe maybe i'll get some Cubans for festival season, they're not so illegal here in Canada! har har

Psychedelic tryptamines that have been hydroxylated or phosphorylated at the 4 position tend to degrade much more rapidly than say, phenethylamine psychedelics. Especially if the salt is not a fumarate.

So you're definitely looking at some potency loss. No question.

Inhaling the combusted vapors of any organic plant matter is going to damage lung alveoli, period.

You are quite incorrect.
