Old age creeping on.......

Cornwall, UK. eh? I beleive that is where Richard D James resides... aka Aphex Twin Used to live down the road from me in Penzance, nice lad, but very very intense. A musical prodigy. (No not that sort!)
So my friends, can we drop the Syd/Melb pissing contest, and return to my topic now?
Cna anyone point us at a club, in Canberra, Sydney or Melbourne that has an "older clientele?"

Hi stroppy,
Barney, your bush correspondent here. I've been kicking around the bush doof scene for about 10 years. I guess as a new Aussie you'll want to check out the countryside a little and I'd heartily recommend you throw a party or three into the mix. I guess you need to be a bit of a psy buff but the lines are beginning to get a little blurred musically as doof popularity grows. I've been to bush parties in Queensland, NSW and Victoria. Up north (besides Byron) the parties tend to be smaller and cruisier while Vic (my home) is more full on, grand and probably a little more 'bangin'. Most of all though, it is an awesome experience to hear great tunes as the sun rises high in the sky. If you need to know more about bush doofs when you get here, I'd be happy to take you by hand and do the dosey-do.
As for clubs and raves, I have no idea.
Cheers
BG

Righty-oh. I will give this thread a bump as I am the "saucepot" that stroppy married and is currently getting a visa to come to Australia to live with me.
Strop loves his dancing. Not only does he love it, but he is damn good at it too. Me? I love dancing as well, but I have taken a life-style break for some time in order to do the "family" bit. My family is now old enough for me to consider having a life again.
Both of us are interested in clubs in the Canberra/Sydney area where you are not going to be detested for walking in if you are over 30. I do not stand agism well.
Melbourne might be just a tad too far to drive on a weekend, but if there are great clubs, please post them and I will try and get time of work to recover.
(Be kind to us wrinklies. We will be the senile ones in years to come that are giving you heaps as you try to change our adult dipers or get us shelved in a nursing home.)

Do australian clubs and events even have an 'ageist' attitude? I know some individuals might but I for one haven't seen an offical door policy or anything crap like that ... so long as you don't go to the teeny bopper nights everythnig should be okay? Unless of course you enjoy getting dressed to the gills, queuing for an hour to get in, drinkning aweful booze casue the kids don't know better and picking up so you can snog some chick with terrible acne and then having to stop casuse she has be home before 1am. (Can you tell I've been there? ;) ) If that's the case, then you're in trouble :D and us bluelighters will have to straighten you out !

eddi, no offence or anything, maybe (actually) I was being a butthole.
*ahem*
sorry.
I'm just sick of the fact that dumping on Sydney = Joking Around, whilst dumping on Melbourne = SACRELIGE!!KILL!!KILL!!

having experienced many clubs in canberra and sydney, i can't say that i have experienced any anti-oldie door policies anywhere... but then i am only 23. but that said some of my clubbing friends in canberra are mid to late 30's and they go out and rock just as hard as anyone else...
you will always get some wankers with an anti-oldies view, but hey... you have to ask yourself are you going to let a minority of wankers stop you from going out and having a great time...
have fun, play safe, party on...

OK then, here's the nub of this thread.
You are a fit, attractive and "mad as a march hare for it," couple who unfortunately are the far side of thirty. you want a good long night out, on the pills, in Canberra or Sydney.
Where do you choose as your venue?

...note that all of these are in sydney
-Premmium @ the Dendy Bar (or anything else at dendy for that matter... damn i love dendy)
-Anything @ the globe
-Good Vibrations @ Chinese laundry
-Anything @ icebox (mainly cause nobody in there can see straight enough to even tell if you are human)

stroppygob, sorry eddy s.ihope you find your oasis,i havent,im in melbourne .im 41. a random (my girl wont drop). ive only found 1 safe house in melb, sunnyside.i am acepted there .only prob is i like hard house.sunny is maybe ,every month and is worth a walk from syd/canberra.sorry eddy s??? maybe cause im older ??? i just dont feel welcome at other nights.good luck up youre neck of the woods, and oh yes i cant dance ,but they are even worse in sydney.

I'm nearly 30 and loving every minute of it, age matters nothing to Bluelighters. Just hard to stop them calling you Dad !! ;)
Welcome to Oz and yes come to Melbourne.

After 6 months, half a year of waiting, my visa dropped through the letterbox this saturday. Look out Canberra, I'll be there in a month.....

Ello!

After a long break, I'm back, and hoping to re-open this thread.

I now live in Canberra, want to get back into the scene, get loved up, and get dancing.

The original questions again.

Any clubs for older ravers in the Canberra area?

Any older Canberra area ravers here willing to give a guy and his wife an intro into the scene?

Sydney recomendations welcomed.

Oh, before I left, I had one last party with Richard "aphex twin", he was most chuffed to have fans thinking of him, dahn under!

Hello mate,

I'm 37 and so EVERY Melbourne club/venue I go to must allow older people!!! =D =D

Here's a brief list that don't consider me to old:

Seven
Revolver
161
Room 680
Earthcore's
QBH
Sounds on Sunday
all the large dance parties, wherever they may take place across the country

...and just about anywhere else that doesn't feature the Kandy Kid minority... :p

All the best...
