Olanzapine + Mushrooms - Experienced - Tripping Whilst On Prescription Medication

On Friday the 25th I decided to trip on some mushrooms (golden tops) despite being on a 5mg a day olanzapine regime. I also had 25mg of valium. I noticed that the usual amount I take to trip (4 caps) had no real effect, so I upped my dosage to 16 caps. Even on such a high dosage, the only effects I received were time dilation and expanded thoughts, so basically everything but visual hallucinations.

This wasn't meant to be a comprehensive trip report, just some information for people currently taking anti-psychotic prescription medication and what to expect while tripping on them.

I believe benzodiazepines (I.e. valium) will work against your trip, as in you won't trip as hard... some people will actually use benzos during a bad or too intense trip to calm down... especially will decrease the visuals.

I'm on 5mg a day. I still do trip while on mushrooms, it's just that visuals don't occur. Everything else - euphoria, appreciation of music, expanded thoughts etc. are still present.

the benzo comment was in reference to your having acquired valium...

Olanzapine(Zyprexa) is not a benzo, its an antipsychotic. Which explains directly why the OP experienced lessoned effects. I myself am prescribed Zyprexa and, unlike the OP, have noticed no detrimental effects on my 4acodmt trips. I actually wrote a trip report asking why I am different (which apparently I am exceedingly so).

OP since you are the only other person on here ive ran into taking zyprexa, Ill say I was using 10mg to try and kill a shroom trip to no avail. What are you taking, if you dont mind my asking?

The theory is that antipsychotics bind or antagonize or whatever to the serotonin and dopamine receptors that psychedelics activate.
