Okay, Here's why I respect Deadmau5 :

no, I dont, its not my thing,

But I have been, in the presence (this doesnt mean I attended a show, I mean, actually in a room or private party) with several, including the infamouse Tiefschwarz duo.

Woah, I really like deadmau5's music. I saw him live and didn't really like him, but a lot of his songs really are good, to me at least. Some I really like are Faxing Berlin, I remember, Hi Friend, and some others.

I do agree that he is a good producer, not so good of a DJ. He played Not Exactly for literally 20 or more minutes. It got really old.

you were actually IN THE SAME ROOM AS TIEFSCHWARZ!

Yea with all the Deadmau5 hype going around...like Tiesto... I had to give him a shot.. now obviously I would never show up at a Deadmau5 party.. So I downloaded a mix... and lord, the worst 5 minutes of my life.. because thats all it took for me, fast forwarding the mix.. it saterted out with nu rave, which I dont like, and then with some electro I think, and then to top it off, some of the oldest songs ever.

dude, I just think it's a riot that you would argue about me about what it takes to be a good DJ when the extent of your djing experience is having been in the same room as tiefschwarz. it's gold, jerry.

again... me and my arrogance!

i know, that sounds soo.. stupid, me bragging!... but I cant help it.. egos..

Yes I have, as well as Susso Florez.. im bragging names.. Dany Le Moor :D, my point being? I know my shit.

Its easy to own a few cd players and a mixer, try being invited by the most exclusive party promoters and Djs, then get back to me, because owning your own cd players with a mixer, or a laptop, is worth shit these days.

"hahaha" are....you guys......even.................Djs?

No, we obviously arent, but.... hold on........ there is such a thing as people who dont Dj and know, about Djs.

Lord Oh Mighty

I'm flamboyant.. and brag a lot, faggots tend to do so.

i repsect the mau5 . he has some good tracks , some real shitty ones just like most producers.

Regardless of whether DJing or producing is "harder", you have to admit that they both take some amount of effort. Calling Deadmau5 a popular hack just because he's not the supreme DJ seems a bit unfair; he's primarily a producer, which is rather incomparable to the skills required to DJ.

On to more subjective topics...I think DJing is given way too much credit for being dynamic in comparison to producing. The DJs I know generally put their sets together beforehand, even claiming that they spend about 90% of their effort preparing and 10% executing it live. There's little control over altering what you're going to sound like when you play your set live -- as long as you don't completely fuck up the transitions, you're basically going to move from one track to another, or overlay a loop from one track over another. Aside from that, you do have filters to mess around with and the EQ, but that's about where your live creativity ends. All the rest is in the preparation, and generally song order and selection of cue points, loops, etc. are done beforehand.

Then again, I am not a DJ by any means.

deadmau5 has something, but what he does live should not be considered better or more difficult than what many djs do, as you said they shouldn't even be compared.

actually any argument on this subject is pointless, the line between producing, remixing and mixing is fading away by the minute with platforms such as ableton live.

the only reason this argument is pointless is because you are all entirely wrong. before posting another uninformed opinion, go ask anyone who both DJs and produces which is harder. seriously, just try it.

I think it depends on what type of music you are producing. I find dark psytrance a lot easier to produce than house. But mixing is somewhat easy, or at least it comes natural to me.

this whole dj vs producer debate is stupid though because I think it matters the type of music you are making. Some shit is really easy to produce.

I think every genre requires a lot of talent and obviously.... a good and unique concept in mind.

There are plenty of techno songs or minimal ones that are simply 4 or 5 simple loops, lowering the base, raising it.. etc, that never really progress to anything original.

It also depends on the artist.. duh i know... but, I think a lot of Deadmau5's 2007 oldies were.. at the time, very original and exciting, but obviously as time goes on and egos rise I guess talent shrinks...? sometimes at least

but dont mind me, pay attention to to@st, he knows his shit way more than all of the most famous Djs and party goers out there. no doubt.
