OK to workout before Mushroom trip-or will soreness ruin trip?

Hey Guys,

It's about 7:30am here. I just got an 1/8th of incredible shrooms I'm dying to try. Roommates are gone, I have the week off, and I love solo-daytime tripping.

I just started getting back to the gym, trying to take off the summer BBQ weight. I'm usually pretty frigging sore when I get home.
Do you think that soreness will be extra bothersome during a trip? If so, maybe I will just put off the gym for today. I haven't been since saturday so no soreness right now.

Thanks

PS-I haven't tried the shrooms yet, but my friends say they're great. Didn't ask about body load, though. I've taken shrooms about a dozen times total.

Shrooms always made me more on the drowsy side. I feel like having sore muscles would add to that feeling for me, I'd hold off on the gym. Even if you do go, it couldn't be all that bad if you don't go overboard while working out.

Personally, I am a big fan of working out before tripping. For me it takes away the nervous anxiety before embarking on my journey. I usually do about 20 minutes of stretching then go on a 3 mile jog. It all depends on your level of fitness in terms of what would be an appropriate work out for you personally, though. I would suggest any mild to moderate cardio routine. I would stay away from any weight lifting or heavy work outs. Take a nice long shower and do some meditation beforehand, and you should be set.

I remember when I had started going to the gym after a very long break and my leg muscles were VERY, VERY sore and my buddy and I decided to trip. Anydangway once the mushrooms had kicked in my leg wasn't sore at all (either that or I didn't care/notice) and walking was not an issue. However, once the zooms wore off it was worse than in was before. It was a good trip though.

I would suggest either a) try a light workout, or b) avoid

....on the other hand, working out would put you in a positive mind-set for the trip!

Good point I'd say. Most people get a post-workout "high", very similar to what's known as runner's high. Your body produces endorphins (basically endogenous opioids) after a workout making you feel good and putting you in a great mood (akin to being on drugs, but without the drugs :D ). You might be more sore afterward, but if anything it would probably improve the quality of your trip rather than detract from it.

I personally wouldn't because shrooms make me feel exhausted on their own. Can't imagine taking them after working out. But its up to you :9

I've worked out before taking a range of substances in the past, and have found the muscle soreness has absolutely no impact on the trip at all. The body load from Mushrooms is fairly mild (though I do find nausea pretty common), so can't imagine it would be an issue. Of course, you may have a different experience.

That said, I feel more awake after a work out than before it typically, so would imagine it would add some stimulant feel to the effects in my case. Most people however seem to feel tired after working out, so I'd gauge it on how you feel after the workout personally.

if i were working out regularly, then id probably not interrupt my shedule, and work out, but lightly. i ve seen some people be a little off when they dont get their excersize :). also, a light workout does tend to put me in a good mood.

now if i wasnt working out regulaly, or if i knew i would be sore afterwards, then id probably put if off, or just go swim a little bit. if i get a little tired and trip then its no problem, but again, too much excersize puts me equally off. i also tend to be really active during a trip, frolicing about, so if i am already sore, i will be even more so afterwards, which might prevent me from working out in the near future.

so, id say go for it, but dont overdo it at all.
have a nice trip!

DOMS (Delayed onset muscle soreness) will problaly not show until the following day(s) after the workout. So i can't see any problem.

I had a good workout today at the gym.. When I hopped off the treadmill and walked over to the water fountain I felt transcendent, floaty.. I've been tripping on a consistent sensible basis for a while now, I feel as if the mindstate I'm in right now would be beneficial to a trip. Just work out, eat a good recovery meal and munch the boomers when your stomach begins to feel empty. Obviously you haven't done this before or else you wouldn't be asking, why not give it a try? I tend to get a burst of energy from mushrooms, that same burst would probably feel emaculate on recovering muscles..

For sure, work out, but don't kill your muscles. Even if you don't do cardio, run half a mile, do some SOLID reps... all I can say is working out really wakes me up. But don't crush your body. Just get lifted naturally at the gym and then let the entheogen work its magic through your system <3

i workout a lot and trip a lot. i find being sore doesnt really make a difference, its just something else to mind fuck you really haha

If you do a lot of back lifts that will make your back sore the shrooms could exasperate this and make your back pretty sore that night on the drug. I tend to get back pain from serotonergics like shrooms and if I put in a real hard day of lifting doing things like squat and deadlift, then I usually end up hurting a bit more if I do those kinds of drugs that night.

Personally I always exercise the day of a trip because I know after the trip I won't be in the gym for at least 1 if not 2 days so even if I am really sore I just try not to think about it. A possible advantage would be that exercise does increase your need to sleep so your body can repair, so you may expect yourself to have an easier time falling asleep at the end of the night instead of staying up through the morning.
