I hear a friend who is going through a meth withdrawal of like on and off for 7 years! And she used to be also addicted to heroin cocaine etc, she is only 22 and believe it or not she has no scabs and is still real pretty, she's just thin and real light and but beautiful skin, but she said she has to try real hard to avoid from itching etc. Anyways she says she can't sleep at all and i believe she really quit because she has been angry and irritated and not as social, but i always read and hear from others as soon as you stop meth you sleep for days and days etc So which one is it?

Usually sleep. I got arrested and i take amphetamines (which they do not allow in the jail, even though theyre prescribed) and i slept for 4 days. Not to mention your brain has slowed down or stopped producing dopamine because of the excess the drug produces, which causes lethargy for me anyway. So sometimes you'll be awake but have no motivation to do anything but sleep. I had really cool dreams the first 1-10 days off speed. The comedown isnt bad at all in my opinion.

It took about 10 days to fully want/be-able to function. I loved it though because when i got out 22 days later, i fucking boofed my brain to fucking jelly. It actually was up to par with the first time i ever did any kind of speed.

IME first you get the crash and sleep and sleep, but of you've had a long term habit your sleep patterns are all messed up so you can run into problem getting yourself back into a "normal" pattern again

Yeah I've heard the opposite that you are more tired than usual after quiting, and of course get the insomnia after doing it.

No experience in meth but when i did amphetamines and stopped I was much more tired and slept in really late. That went away within a day or two.

I had no problems sleeping when I was crashing but when I stopped completely and tried to get back on a regular schedule it was really hard. I got used to either not sleeping or going to bed at 6 am and then waking up 2 hours later from a 'power nap.' Even when I was crashing, I didn't sleep for 'days and days' like everybody says you do. I think it just depends on how long of a runner you pull. The longest I had ever slept in a row before I'd be back on another binge was 15 hours and my come downs were never really that bad, possible because I was prescribed xanax and I used that to help. It's been 3 months since I've used and I still have troubles with my sleeping patterns. I still don't go to bed until around 3 or 4 am because it's hard for me to get tired and I'm always awake by 10:30 am no matter what time I end up going to bed. It's hard to function normally for awhile afterwards, honestly. I still get horrible cravings and night sweats and shit. Luckily, I moved to a new city and I know no one involved in the game up here so I haven't fallen off yet.

If I use amphetamines for an extended period I'll sometimes feel exhausted for days. Like to the point where I can't really move for a few hours after waking up.

I've also never really seen anybody have scabs specifically from amphetamines/meth (except on Breaking Bad).

I too have experienced only wanting to sleep the times that I did break from it, I have only been on it for 8 months. And the first day off of it I don't NOT sleep much, I aYES" she is on it but i know that I tell my friends random shit and hide out because I AM on it.... Sorry charlie but if she "JUST QUIT" and is still up all hours of the night there is a chance she didn't quit

but if she has made it through the first week/or two she def might have insomnia. 7 years is a long time....

^Maybe. You mention she's addicted to other drugs as well so its hard to tell for sure. In fact, its impossible to tell you what your friend is or isn't doing...

But yes, good posts all around...if you take amphetamine or methamphetamine or pretty much any stimulant at all for an extended period of time and then stop taking it, you're going to sleep for a while and be tired and un-motivated for an even longer while before getting back to normal.

yeah i know plus she had a huge iv heroin addiction and a huge cocaine addiction, i don't really know if this is alot but she says she does like 4 4 inch lines snorted every 4 hours thats alot! But yeah the other day she had patches on her arm so i think she still is using but she never seems happy i've seen methheads that have used for years well some and they get happy still when they use enough. She's so funny, she's like i haven'ttt slept in threeee days i'm tired, i've been clean lmao

when i run out of speed (adderall) after a 5 day bender of taking it, i sleep, for atleast 10 days where i have the energy to get back on a schedule, other then that i doze off in the mo9d day, dont feel like doing shit

When my mom would withdraw from methamphetamine, she usually slept nearly constantly.

In my opinion, it sounds like your friend is still using. and lying to you about it.

^Sadly so, it does.

When I quit using, I would sleep 15-20 hours a day for nearly a week and a half. This was high dose, long term use though.

Well let me say this I did speed for along time and Lots and lots of it. I never got good sleep when I quit. Even when crashing. However I was a hardcore opioet addict for about 9 years and I had isomnia already. I also was a very hardcore drinker and spent about 3 years strait using drinking with downers to sleep. Beside that I always had lots of opioets to get me to sleep. Even though I did tons of speed it never made me sleep good even after a long run. Sure I would crash but I only got a little sleep and would be back up. Prob why stims tore me up so bad I never got that long crash other people get.

So my question is was speed her only drug? Or possibly she had other drug problems along with it. Because im 7 months sober and still don't sleep well. My sleep is horrible.
