Ok, so I got an appointment

Ok, so I called and scheduled an appointment today for this pain I have in my thumb, like when I bend it. This continues up my arm, sometimes just above my elbow where it kinda feels numb. Here is my question; What should I say if they just want me to ice it and use ibuprofin (that's what they suggested over the phone)? I tried ibuprofin with no relief at all. Actually I took two tylenol 3's the other night and had a drink or two and still had the pain. I can't really say this though as they were not my t3's. If I tell them that ibuprofin didn't work, do you think it will be likely that I will get something stronger. This for the most part is a legitimate claim on my part, as I am hoping to get somethin to relieve the pain (however, it would be nice to have something left over :) ). Cuz when my roommate went to the health clinic here for a toothache they gave him anaproxen (sp?) and some valium to help him sleep through the pain...(the oxys i had last night really helped - not the reason i took it though, actually i even forgot about the thumb after a while, but i doubt i am going to be able to stroll in there and get oxy, haha)...

Go ahead and mention the T3's - simply say it was some leftover from when you had a root canal or some such garbage... just leave out the alcohol part .. it all comes down to whats causing the pain - if something shows up on an x-ray or other diagnostic imaging system, then you might score, if not, they might say "take some prescription strength Aleve and apply ice" .. it depends on a lot of stuff, including your age, what you look like, history, etc... hope, no PRAY that you have some serious damage, maybe something that will never go away that you will have to be medicated for the rest of your life! You could actually
'embelish' a tad and say you had some hydrocodone leftover - say you had the 5/500 pills and two of those took care of the pain perfectly and didn't make you that tired or anything.. you're probably not going to do any better!
Good luck!

So I went today and got a prescription for Ketorolac or Toradol is the name brand i think. Anyways, it's basically extra stregnth ibuprofin, wonderful, im sure that will help[/sarcasm]...oh well, after I take a few of them, im sure i will be going back...
