^from the original post i took it as he was mixing off cds the entire time. a lot of dj's use cds in their mixes here & there if the track isn't on vinyl yet or whatever which i'm *totally* cool with:) i didn't think he was lame & i personally didn't hear him train wreck. the further back you were from the tables the harder it was hear...for me anyway.

ass ass titties titties

^^the reason funk gets booked^^
he brings the beitches! Remember running into him at Revolution 1 at Valleydale and he seemed pretty wasted. Its to be expected that he is gonna sound like boots in the dryer, but he gets the booties shaking

I'm sorry I offended you. By no means was that a personal attack, I was just expressing my thoughts on people in general who like the whole CDJ thing. Also in a "nice" way you mentioned most people know dj's use cd's for unreleased tracks, which is kind of a zing on me. But that's ok. Anyhow, I was just stating my opinion; I don't want to add to the drama that is already here. I apologize for my comments.

Oh, and we talked to him about 15 min before his set and he was slurring his speech a little, that is why I was under the impression he was trashed. I stand corrected.

Billy B: I understand where you're coming from because I too look down upon people that call themselves DJ's when all they do is spin CDs...it's disgraceful & a slap in the face to REAL DJ's that use VINYL...sorry but that is MY opinion & it's not my fault if anyone is offended by it. I don't expect everyone to agree with me as I am not trying to get everyone to hate on CD DJs.

I've heard of parties from the past where that's all Funk did was spin CD's...but from my eye witness account Saturday night, I saw vinyl on the turntables & in his hands. But I have no clue when I walked away whether he spent the rest of the night playing CD's...I don't care he was playin tha jams!
It's hard to say at what point in the night if/when he was fucked up. My friend & I talked to him around 11 or 11:30 pm & he was fine...so he may have been fucked up later on...? I watched him as he was getting ready to get on the decks & watched him even 30 minutes or more into his set & his composure never led to believe he was fucked up. Maybe he can front better than I think? It really doesn't matter to me.

Billy B: I took your comments as an attack & I was defending myself. I too apologize...your comments really threw me off & you caught me on a bad day after a overall horrible weekend.
It's all good;)

I dont think it makes a fucking difference if hes mixing cd's or not. The point is he is still mixing them!!!!!! It takes no less or no more talent to mix cd's. Now if he is playing a pre-mixed cd and doing nothing, (a rumor heard many times before) then that is a different story. FUCK PEOPLE, hes DJ Funk and I think hes established enough to spin on CDJ's if he wants too.

NOTE. Look at the equipment used on Dieselboys new cd (kick ass CD!!). No Technics used, just CDJ's. And I dont think I would hear anyone bitching about that.

lmao! funny that the "white flag" you chose to waive turned out to be the most ignorant poorly reasoned thought on this page:D

cheers

im glad to see that overall most ppl had a good time here in columbus.
remember what matters most.
overall good djs,decent vibe,and a party
THAT WASNT SHUT DOWN!!
not all things will always go everybodys way.
but it takes shows like this to build upon and believe me when i say columbus has alot of room to grow.
lots of great talent, new weeklies popping up allover, and one hell of a support system.
we need parties good and bad to bring it all back.

ps. nightbreed if you wanna talk you know how to reach me.

pss.thanks to all who showed the support for the music they love!!!!!

i dont understand why you are arguing over dj funk

hes not worth it!

everytime ive seen funk play, and ive seen him 6 times over the past 4-5 years, he has played cds, and he was trashed. he also trainwrecked every other mix. all 6 times.

he did bring the bitchs tho and thats why he gets booked ;)

too bad people cant look past the money aspect and actually look at the talent. he may know how to mix and be a great dj, but im sure he doesnt care cuz he gets the bling.

^^
Actually, Funk was extremely drunk throughout his set; he was drunk before he even arrived to the venue. He ended up vomiting in the bathroom later that night from drinking so much.

I had fun at the party. I loved Ryan and Jason's set at the end of the night, great job guys.

It sucks about the heat, but the AC was running before the party began, just to let some know.

Funk=$$$=shit music

Take one of the simplest forms of techno, add in lyrics akin to little kids saying naughty words and snickering, stir in some pimp wannabees, and there you have it! I wonder why it's called booty.....maybe because it's ass.
Watch Better Living Through Circitry or Modulations, and you'll see what Funk is about. And yes I am hating, because I hate booty.
That's my 5 cents, keep the change.

damn he hides it VERY well (to me) because i didn't smell it on him & he didn't seem drunk to me....oh well! i still shook my ass just like i wanted :D

on a more positive note..i forgot to mention that paul anthony skooled on some house music!!! he was definitely layin a lesson down with some old cuts most of you kids don't even know about! i was very pleased with his set. hive fuckin rawked too! the system in the 2nd room was sweet & i liked the idea of the elevated booth...but you couldn't see him~it was pitch black!

ye olde house

I met a couple realy straight cats at this show, wich was a pleasant surprise indeed. Oh yeah, thanks for the shit time slot Justin, without it I'd have never met these kids. Looks like your little insult backfired! :p
Promoters like you come and go like half hour hookers, but it was nice to learn there are still some grounded, real people out there.
Here's to all the kids that made a true connection with some one at this event. DOWN WITH ROCK STARS!!

heck yeah.. you sooooo said it. i had some good friends of mine not only get a shitty time slot but then got screwed over by some interesting business tactics. but all in all it was a great party and i met many many great people at this event. it was very interesting to me that everyone i talked to was from indiana and dayton.. what happened to everyone else??... owell we had fun and i guess that is all that matters. ooooo thank you sinister and hive for making the night more then worth it.. and to all the bad ass sets that went on in that little tiny sweat box i listened as much as possible... you guys rocked!!!

First props to the talent:

Vash"the stampede"--First hardocore DJ at a nightbreed event, Made all the kiddiez scream

Sinister--you've outdone yourself bro the midwest loves ya your one of our best

Nox--tore that shit up twice nice to get to meet you

As far as headlining talent Hive,Sage, and Simply jeff all impressed me, Funk-did not

sorry I didnt get to see more of you. local talent was top of the line.

There was alot of drama,Issues, and Rumors I'll hold my peace and just ask that you trust
your source and get a second opinion before you post them I have already seen statements
that are completely false.

Props to the after party kidz ya'll know how to party.

made it out despite a semi late start straight from work with some new friends here in btown. my last event that didnt get shut down was reid speed & it was ok i guess but this event was mainly impressive to me because of the size of the place, 2nd room madness, & just the population there. place seemed a bit hornier than usual LOL... i must have missed all the house sets, we got there while dj funk was playin' cds. he sounded better than @ live on the decks... so i didn't really care. overall pretty good party bc there wasn't a shortage of h20 for me, toilet paper ROCKS, and the music was steady all through the nite. i think someone might have given me a starburst without telling me it contained my fav. chemical but i didn't realize it until about 7pm when i came back from crazy land... thanks to nightbreed, squirrel, and dj fetha for making my first party in cbus FUN -- looking forward to the DB thing coming up next month, haven't seen him live since sonic sunrise...

if anyone found one white & one purple photon (or either) and isn't an evil bastard plz let me know... thankfully i only took (& lost) 2 so i still have a couple but its just not the same
eric
