soulseek, and i rest.

it's called maybe actually supporting the artists' tracks that you play, and you know, that whole respect thing.

playing dubplates and unreleased mp3s is a great way to get people to hear fresh stuff, but if an artist hasn't actually pressed, released, or gotten paid for a release, then someone else could always jack that track and say it was their's.

it's happened before, and it'll keep happening. i know a few people that that's happeened to, and soulseek was a prime reason that DID happen.

Get up with the times man...

Most to all bands, pop acts, DJS, musical entertainers of sorts, make their money on the road playing shows for YOU... not off dubplates. Dogsonacid.com lets u listen to tons of shit, who says you cant rip a high quality stream...

If ppl got ripped off on soulseek its their fault for exposing their music in the shared folder, simple.

ur turn.

PLUS, its a fucking rave. not a metallica concert - cheers :)

ok dipshit, you might wanna make sure the person you're trying to correct doesn't live with a person who has 55 releases to date(I think that's the count) has owned/run a successful label. I think she may know a lil bit about how a dj/producer makes money kthnxforplayinSTFU=D

:p

it's too bad you have no idea what you are talking about.

sad that i have to explain, but here goes:

if people are playing dubs or unreleased stuff, sometimes they don't want things recorded because they realized the tunes needed some correcting. or they just don't want it recorded.

the fact is, people DO rip tunes out of sets, and with the nifty digital technology available to us today, they edit them and play them out. as much as it sucks, it's the way things are.

it doesn't mean the artist put their tunes in the shared folder or that they are even ON slsk. geez...

Shiva have u ever had a track ripped off of you and heard it played out somewhere?

What does that have to do with the price of tea in China? Regardless of whether Shiva has or not doesn't mean Monkey is well within his rights not to publish whatever audio files he deems to. I applaud him for thinking about the artist and their needs before his own. You're not going to win this argument on any kind of legal or moral grounds, so just drop it....

How much music have you illegally downloaded toolshed?? You are seriously one of the dumbest motherfuckers I've ever seen type on this forum. We are all now dumber for having read your posts, I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul. Please return to the rock you came from under and stay there.

Oooh, actually this doesn't prove Shiva's point that much really. But a long time ago before John moved to New Orleans, he played me a track he did that had a cool use of a semi-obscure sample. Roger Sanchez had just started a new label -- John sent him the demo. Nothing came of it.

Until a year later when Mr. Sanchez had a track that sounded alarmingly like John's. Same obscure sample used in the same clever manner... just cleaner drum sounds and maybe a different sequence.

Obviously, Sanchez didn't go to Soulseek (wasn't tehre at the time) to do his jackin'... but jack he did.

Sorry, this doesn't prove anyone's point; it just made me remember my Sanchez-is-a-dirty-thief

no kidding, this message board has gotton old... it needs spiced up, what do you think the "ur turn" is all about. i agree artists should make money off their stuff. I dont know how you all managed to turn it around on me. All i was saying is.. i wanted to listen to a set. not steal it, not rip it... i bet all those guys back in the days at raves had permissions to use the sets they sold on tapes...no?

how much music have i illegally downloaded? haha... Beathead01 on soulseek. If u even check then ur eating ur own words. And im SURE u pay a dollar for every single song u download...

just bc you can do it or its been done in the past doesnt make it right.

i could probably catch, mark, and cage other humans for sale, but that doesnt make it necessarily right. and using your logic, it was done for several centuries, so why cant i do it?

pull your head out of your ass and respect someone's interest in seeking permission to distribute a live recording before doing it.

Everyone enjoyed ganging up in this conversation, yet no one answered my question about dogsonacid.com.

They released MAD stuff, even dubplates, you can listen to the WHOLE track.. why would they do that if people are stealing tracks left and right out there?

just a thought.

thats not my logic dipshit. Downloading music isnt comparable to human incapasitation, are you fucking serious? tweek is bad. say it, over and over.

everyone who owns music they didnt pay for, should delete it. is that your logic? your psycho bable has me confused...

i have not, but i know many people who have, both in techno and dubstep. i'm not making this shit up.

and i personally am not one who gets all up in arms thinking people are gonna rip tracks from my sets, but if the sets are recorded, i do require final approval on whether they get posted. i have also played unreleased tunes from other people who have asked me not to let the recordings get out, so i have to respect their wishes. and then there are those sets that i don't think are up to par for me personally, so i prefer not to distribute them.

i totally understand wanting to hear the sets, but sometimes, you just gotta chalk it up to "glad i was there for that one" or "that totally sucks that i missed that one" and let it go.
