Official technical questions about computers thread

I know i've asked this before but it's in one of the old OT threads and they are so long so i really don't want to go through them but can someone tell me again how to erase your log in details that you put in the drop down boxes using IE please?

I should have written it down i know cos i'm useless with remembering tecky type details :\

Not history or cookies though... just the drop box menu thing

IE6 or IE7?

Click Help then About and it will tell you

IE6

Tools -> Internet Options
Click the 'Content' tab
Click the 'AutoComplete' button
Click the 'Delete Passwords' and 'Delete Forms' buttons

IE7

Tools -> Internet Options

Click the 'Delete' button under Browsing History
Click 'Delete Passwords'

Okies, when i type an address in the address bar and its not a proper link, the page always goes to the freaking msn Live Search page. How do I set it so it just goes to the defult "Page cannot be displayed"?

fanks

In Firefox:

"Tools"

"Options"

"Main" tab

In the home page box, write "about: blank"

In Internet Explorer:

"Tools"

"Internet Options"

"General" tab

Click the button under the home page box, that says "use blank".

^^ thats for my homepage though, its not my home page i have a problem with.
Its when I misspell an address or the address doesnt exist.

By default the address bar will act like a search engine query
Explorer uses msn live search (im not sure if this is configurable) so if you get a bad url it will goto msn and search there

First off, install Firefox. Explorer is digital poo

The best you can hope for in explorer is to goto Options->Advanced->Search from Address bar and select "Do not search from address bar"

Can someone recommend a program that will tell me information about the motherboard. I specifically want to find out the motherboard model name. So that I can find the audio driver for it.

OR is there a hidden program in windows xp (start > run > 'hiddenprogram') that will show up the motherboard model name?

I think you'd have better luck hunting down every person responsible for a pop-up and shooting them in the back of the skull. *

* This may result in incarceration, but more likely you will be worshipped as the messiah of the modern age.

lol

Samsung LCD screens are the best in my experience, but you must buy them from legit stores and not the small business one's. I myself use a Samsung Syncmaster 713N and I couldn't be happier.

EVEREST Free Edition 2.20 is a program that I use to check out my system specs. It definitely has what you need. There is a way you can find your motherboard info through the comp, but i can't be bothered typing the thing out lol sorry I'm lazy. But Everest is the best way to go.

and people please don't use IE

Greetings, i recently got a second hand computer from my brother. i'm going to pop my hard drives in one at a time to copy my crap across, but my question is:

as one already has the windows operating system on it, will using it as a slave drive drive my computer to suicide in self pity of having so much microsoft on it?

i.e.- will it freak out if there is two operating systems installed: one on the master drive, one on the slave
