Official Paedo Discussion Megathread v2

Apparantly the filth and special branch covered up Cyril Smith spanking little boys. He subjected you to "hygeine experiments and chastisements". 29 stones worth.

Programme on Ch 4 tonight - "How Cyril Smith got away with it"

I do actually like one Cliff Richard song - We dont talk any more. It really has a fantastic 'groovy' 70s bass line and melody in the verses, and he does sing it well, but the chorus is a "bit" naff. I doubt cliffy wrote it though, i dont think he writes his own songs.

What was that really really awful song "im not like that at all" wher he was going "some people like to hurt each other - im not like that" basically setting himself up as a whiter than white saint. Must be very clean or confident to do that. It was the most toe curlingly embarassinngly cringeworthy bad song ive ever heard.

I only know all this from when i grew up/went to visit my parents. They always had radio 2 on. And My Mum is a fan. Sorry, this has got FA to do with paedos, i bet anyone anything that neither cliff Richard nor john craven are paedos.

You mean Some People?

That's actually the Cliff song that gets stuck in my head more than any other. It's just one of those melodies. And Cliff's voice really soars, especially when he jumps an octave to sing the "they always understaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnd" part. The synth follows him, but never overpowers. Genuinely spine-tingling.

It also has the breakdown in the middle where "a thought is broken by a tender word", to quote Our Cliff. How could you fail to be won over by that?

Shit, I think I might know all the words... but here they are for the uninitiated:

Some people, they tease one another
Take pride in themselves
Keeping the other one down
Well, I'm not like that at all

Some people, they hurt one another
They love to see
Hurt in the other one's eyes
Well, I'm not like that at all

Some people are born for each other
They love to walk
Holding the other one's hand
They always understand

Some people cry, some people know why, ohh
Some people, they use one another so aimlessly
Not like lovers do
Well, I'm not like that at all

Some people, they long for each other
They love to talk
Holding the other one's hand
They always understand

Some people cry, some people know why
With a word unspoken, with a voice unheard
When a thought is broken by a tender word
When a heart is moved, when a heart is thrown
The silence tells you you're not alone

Some people are born for each other
They love to walk
Holding the other one's hand
They always understand

Some people cry, some people know why, some people
(Some people are born for each other)
They love to walk holding the other one
(Some people they long for each other)
They love to talk holding the other one

(Some people are born for each other)
They love to walk holding the other one
Holding the other one
Holding each other

Come on - "some people cry, some people know why"? Deep.

We Don't Talk Anymore is definitely a good one too, you're right.

Is that you back SHG?! :D

My fave Cliff song of all time is a fairly early one called "I could easily fall in love with you". It's as good as early Beatles.

Big Kevin Webster didn't shag a bairn after all. ITV must be chuffed.

Paedo thread turns into "what's your favouritet Cliff Richard song? " :D I'll get back to you on that one, can't say I've ever thought about it. Isn't he living with an ex priest or something. I'm sure that's in his biography, not that I've read it but I'm sure my dad told me that.

I wasn't sure what to believe on Big Kev until the trial. Looking at his face when he went in he didn't look guilty or cocky. He also looked genuinely relieved and happy when cleared. What happened with DLT?

Looking at his face when he went in he didn't look guilty or cocky.

hes a proffessional actor with probably the best legal advice/personal advisors money can buy. Hed be very foolish to be turning up appearing all cocky, but as the jury cleared him i guess we have to believe he's innocent. All these girls that falsely cry wolf are gonna make it harder for real rape victims. They are gonna have to go through extensive and painful interregation because of cases like this.

Hanging about outside a primary school?

Get to fuck. :D

You're absolutely correct: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-e...-about-his-companion-the-expriest-920825.html

Sir Cliff said:
Our arrangement has worked out really well," he writes. "John and I have over time struck up a close friendship. He has also become a companion, which is great because I don't like living alone, even now.

Sir Cliff said:
As for my sexuality, I am sick to death of the media's speculation about it. What business is it of anyone else's what any of us are as individuals? I don't think my fans would care either way.

Sir Cliff said:
Gone are the days when we assumed loving relationships would be solely between men and women. It seems to me that commitment is the issue, and if anyone comes to me and says: 'This is my partner; we are committed to each other', then I don't care what their sexuality is. I'm not going to judge; I'll leave that to God

According to my mother (who was certainly not always a reliable source) Cliff was caught in the act cottaging once in the sixties and it was hushed-up like it was a potential threat to national security.

All these girls that falsely cry wolf are gonna make it harder for real rape victims. They are gonna have to go through extensive and painful interregation because of cases like this.

They have to go through the mill as it is, though I think that has less to do with false accusations than it does an institutionalised misogyny in the legal system. Not that I condone false accusations, of course.

I'd say the Kevin Webster trial has certainly brought up the question of anonymity for the accused in these cases, which can only be a good thing.

DLT's being tried next year, I believe.

EDIT: I just Googled "Cliff Richard cottaging" and was greeted with the sight of this:

Obviously I'm not saying Cliff being photographed with Savile is in any way sinister (beyond the fact the photo features Savile) but it made me laugh out loud. And creeped me out too.

That's the duchess in the middle - Jimmys beloved mother. Apparantly he stayed with her corpse for 5 days after her death. Don't ask.

As bad as life can sometimes get, count yourself lucky you are not being disciplined by Cyril Smith.

Argh, missed this altho I was intending to watch it. Need to find a DL because I find the guy particularly creepy.

On Saville - Some sunday paper got the transcript (using a Freedom of Information request), of an interview Saville attended with Police child protection officers, in 2009.

From the Independent:
'Normally you can brush abuse allegations away like midges': Transcript of Jimmy Savile interview with child protection officers in 2009 released

Dunno about anyone else, but this kind of statement below shows definite moments of inconsistency, where he's being very obviously contradictory with his reasoning:

Asked if he is attracted to girls aged under 16, he replied: “No, exactly the opposite.” He said: “They have nothing to offer in so far as they didn’t even have much of a conversation so I’m not socially attracted to them at all and that’s why I never got married because I wasn’t particularly keen on accepting the responsibility of another person, and I enjoyed being on my own anyway.”

^ Police should have been picking up on these kinds of things, and given the fact he's been keen to express the sheer number of complaints against him merited him (and the letters) being known as a stand in joke to Yorkshire Police at their offices, along with this:

He told the officers that he had reached settlements with five newspapers after threatening to sue over allegations of sexual misconduct.

Why would any investigating officer (paricularly from Child protection services), go along with Jimmy and brush off the rising number of emerging incidences of allegations, and believe what Jimmy said without investigating much further? Especially when he's making slip ups and making contradictory statements.

The Guardian's piece on the same transcript.

Especially when he's making slip ups and making contradictory statements.

Because...

...on-duty police officers went to weekly “breakfast clubs” at his penthouse flat in Leeds.

West Yorkshire Police detectives went so-called “Friday Morning Club” where Savile served up coffee and cake and laughed at what women and children accused him of for decades.

He gave them tea and cakes.
