OFFICIAL Break Beat MEGATHREAD

when he's out here he usually stays for a little while doing a few gigs here and there. ie last year he did a few shows (2 as tipper, 1 as Crunch) in a span of a week or 2. from what i have seen he'll usually do a dj show that is mid-tempo. then he'll do a live show thats experimental. his downtempo-experimental shows also can be booked under his other moniker Crunch. he's following the same pattern this time around as well. he did his live performance at the record release party last friday. and the show this thursday is a dj set. in any case he has an arsenal that can be unleashed for every occasion, thus justifying him as the badest mofo in this thread.

i'd say he likes california. i do beleive FUEL USA is based out of SF. so he does come around :)

EDIT: some notable fools that need to be recognized in this thread are Funkstorung. they drop some funky and chunky beats that move your feets. :)

Thanks

thanks everyone for those suggestions, i've got a list a mile long now of dj's to check out. one more question though ... i noticed such a huge difference in all the different types of breaks, so what would the kind I like be called? Basically its the stuff you hear in a club that just makes you have to get out of your seat and dance, not the really hardcore stuff or the slower more mellow stuff. Also not really the mainstream songs that everyone mixes ... Any help here??

If you are interested, I can send you a copy of my breaks cd (see heartbreaks thread) It has a good crossection of dif style breaks; nuskool, electro, funky and prog.

my favorites are:
simply jeff
uberzone
plump djs
elite force
there are more...cant think right now

even though these guys havnt done anything for me lately, i still think they deserve to be mentioned in this thread. definitly moreso than other djs i've seen posted here.

lee combs
meat katie
t power
rennie pilgrem

Get all those purty names from a record store? I can't believe NO ONE mentioned the O.G.s of the breaks. Dynamix II Baby!!! The baddest ever was, ever will. Oz & Storm are super cool too. Storm's new shit is insane. Oh yeah, Eros is underrated like hell too. Check em all out.

i must agree with synthax on this one BUT YOU FAILED TO MENTION BRAD SMITH AKA MR.SMITH ,SHARAZ,AND DOC ROC

some of my fav producers: Rennie P, BLIM, Evil 9, Quest, Mutiny, Deekline, Atomic Hooligan, Apollo Kids, Autobots, R Kidz and Noize.....there's so many great things being done with nu-skool breaks right now with more and more innovations all the time! :)

im looking for suggestions guys!

i have been listening to breaks for long enough to know whats what, but im not too flash with labels and alternative production monikers.

You'd call it nu-skool, but the sound im looking for is what i call "sci-fi" breaks. Darker than straight nu-skool, with filtered and distorted bass lines. Can be tough, can be proggy, can be funky, you get the picture.

i am looking for stuff similar to this:

- Burufunk
- Hybrid
- Nubreed
- Luke Chable
- Jono fernandez
- Chris Lake
- Chris Carter
- Scrambler
- Blackwatch
- Koma and Bones
- Killer Elite

any feedback/advice appreciated!

PS: Liquiddelight, there is a breaks remix floating around Melb atm. Its called "Chicane vs. Bryan Adams - Don't give up (Lithiums Chicane vs. BT Remember Booty mix)". Booty breaks rework of Don't Give up. Fucking Gold!
